VNX5300 没有一套对所有环境都适用的 RAID、存储池或主机端口配置。动手之前,先确认手上这台阵列是 Block(块)、File(文件)还是 Unified(统一)配置,再盘点硬件、软件和许可证。设计取舍(池还是 RAID 组、选哪种 RAID、端口数量)要由应用负载和可用性要求来决定。本文按这个顺序组织,每一步都对应到 Dell/EMC 的官方文档。
第一步:确认这台 VNX5300 属于哪种配置
Dell 的产品支持页将 VNX5300 列为可按 Block、File 或 Unified 三种配置提供。其磁盘处理器机柜(DPE)有两种规格:15 个 3.5 英寸盘位,或 25 个 2.5 英寸盘位。加挂磁盘阵列机柜(DAE)后,最多支持 125 块磁盘。这些数字来自 Dell 产品页的配置说明,不是性能指标,不能据此推断吞吐或 IOPS。来源:Dell VNX5300 手册与文档页。

Block 与 File/Unified 的硬件差异

实验环境中还应补充记录阵列的软件版本。现有公开资料无法确认你这台设备的软件版本、许可证、磁盘型号或配置类型,必须到设备上核实。同样,不要仅凭接口或盘体尺寸就判断磁盘、SFP、线缆能否兼容,应以部件号和对应配置的文档为准。

论文指出,规划的核心是分布(distribution)、性能和可用性。具体做法是先识别应用及其 I/O 特征,评估数据的重要程度和可用性要求,再综合考虑磁盘分布、DAE、主机端口分布,以及已有的许可功能,例如 MirrorView、SnapView、Thin Provisioning、FAST VP 和 Fast Cache。论文没有针对未说明的系统给出通用答案。下面是它记录的几个常见客户问题,以及各自应该取决于什么。

“用哪种 RAID?”
论文把它作为客户问题记录。原文如此:“What RAID to use: Raid 10, Raid 5, Raid 10?”,其中 RAID 10 重复出现,若需逐字引用,请对照原 PDF。选择应基于应用 I/O、可用性要求,以及可用的磁盘数量与类型,不存在适用于所有环境的固定答案。
“块与文件的 I/O 分开还是混合?”
原问题是“Divide or mix the I/O for Block and File?”。仅在 Unified 配置下才有此取舍;纯 Block 系统不涉及。判断时要看两类负载各自的性能与可用性要求,并结合磁盘与机柜的分布。
“每台主机推荐几个端口?”
原问题是“How many ports are recommended by host?”。论文把主机端口分布列为需要规划的因素,没有给出固定数字。应根据主机的重要程度、可用性要求,以及阵列实际拥有的端口数量来确定。

建议的实践顺序
- 在阵列和机架上核对实物,判断是 Block、File 还是 Unified,以及 DPE 是 15 盘 3.5 英寸还是 25 盘 2.5 英寸。

- 查询已安装的软件版本和已获授权的许可证。
