Why are there black bars on my widescreen monitor?
Black bars at the sides usually mean the emulator is preserving the game’s proportions rather than stretching a narrower image across the entire widescreen panel. For a DOS game, that can be the correct result: filling every pixel of the monitor is not the same as displaying the image at the right shape.
Start by checking that aspect correction is enabled or set to automatic. If the image looks proportionally correct but occupies less of the screen than you like, decide whether a larger viewport is preferable to distortion.
