EarFun rates it for up to 30 hours of playback; RTINGS measured 39 hours in its test, while also finding warm bass and low mids that can make vocals muddy. For a garden gathering or outdoor listening, those trade-offs are easier to accept than if you need a light speaker or clear sound from every direction.
What the EarFun UBOOM X is
The UBOOM X is a large portable party speaker rather than a compact travel companion. EarFun lists two 4-inch woofers, two 20 mm tweeters, 80W output, Bluetooth 5.3, a carry handle, and an adjustable strap. Its dimensions are 400 × 150 × 217 mm and its weight is 4.15 kg. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. EarFun’s product page has the full specification list.
The speaker has an AUX input, app-based EQ, a built-in microphone for voice-assistant access, and Party Connect for linking up to 50 UBOOM X speakers, according to EarFun. That assistant feature provides access through a connected device; it should not be mistaken for a standalone voice assistant built into the speaker.
How it sounds
RTINGS characterizes the UBOOM X’s sound as broadly balanced, with uneven bass and midrange and extra warmth through the bass and low mids. That warmth can make vocals sound somewhat muddy. Bass-heavy tracks also lack some of the deepest thump and rumble, according to the review, so the speaker’s size and 80W rating do not mean it delivers the most forceful low bass.

RTINGS measured a maximum output of 98 dB in its test results, updated September 22, 2026. This is a reviewer measurement, not a guaranteed level in every room or setting. RTINGS says it is loud enough for a garden gathering.
Placement matters
The drivers face forward, so the UBOOM X is not the best choice when listeners are spread all around it. RTINGS review authors Viet Nguyen, Stephen Eldon Kerr, and Yannick Khong write: “You’ll want to position this speaker facing you, as its forward-facing drivers sound noticeably more muffled when you’re behind it.” Place it toward the main seating area rather than in the middle of a group if consistent clarity is important.

EQ options
The companion app offers more than 30 EQ presets and a 10-band graphic EQ, as reported by RTINGS. This gives you room to adjust the tonal balance to suit your music, but EQ cannot change the speaker’s forward-facing design or make its listening position irrelevant.
Battery life and charging
EarFun advertises up to 30 hours of playback and notes that actual duration varies with volume and audio content. The manufacturer lists a 7.2V, 8,400mAh battery. RTINGS reported 39 hours in its own battery test; that figure comes from its test conditions and is not directly interchangeable with EarFun’s conditional maximum. RTINGS’ review was published November 11, 2025, and its test bench was updated September 22, 2026 using Methodology v1.0.1.

Charging uses USB-C, with EarFun listing input up to 20V/3A. The speaker can also charge another device through its USB output, rated up to 5V/2A. EarFun lists a USB-C cable in the box; if you do not already have a suitable power adapter, check the package details for your region before buying one separately.
Outdoor use and portability
EarFun rates the UBOOM X IP67 for dust and water protection. Combined with its strap and substantial battery life, that makes it suitable for outdoor listening. RTINGS also describes it as good for outdoor use and loud enough for a garden gathering.

The compromise is physical size: at 4.15 kg, it is portable in the sense that it can be carried, but it is not especially light to take on a long walk. Its front-facing sound also means placement matters more when the audience is spread out. For a patio or garden where you can set it facing listeners, those limitations may be minor; for all-around group listening or frequent long-distance carrying, they matter more.
What to consider before buying
- Choose it for: high output, a dust- and water-resistant build, USB device charging, app EQ, and long battery performance in RTINGS’ test.
- Think twice if: you want an easy-to-carry speaker, deep bass impact, clearer vocals without EQ adjustment, sound that stays consistent behind the speaker, or low video latency. RTINGS reports high video latency even with Video Mode enabled.
- Check the connection features you need: the UBOOM X supports Bluetooth 5.3 and AUX, but RTINGS notes that the named alternatives below offer multipoint connectivity.
How it compares with similarly sized alternatives
RTINGS identifies the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Plus and Tribit StormBox Blast as similarly sized, boombox-style alternatives. Its comparisons report substantially longer battery life for the UBOOM X than those models, while the Anker and Tribit offer multipoint connectivity and the Tribit has better directivity. These are reviewer-specific comparisons; check the relevant current model tests and features before choosing between them.

Verdict: Is the EarFun UBOOM X worth buying?
The EarFun UBOOM X is worth considering if you want a loud, rugged speaker for a garden, patio, or other outdoor listening spot and can point it toward your listeners. Its main strengths are its measured output, long RTINGS battery result, IP67 rating, and useful EQ. Its weight, warm presentation that can blur vocals, and more muffled sound behind the speaker make it a less convincing pick for easy travel or audiences arranged around it.
