The goal was to support predictive and generative workflows, autonomous agents, and interactive avatars. The announcement described a joint direction, not proof that every planned capability was already available.
What Salesforce and NVIDIA announced
Announced on September 17, 2024, the collaboration paired Salesforce’s business platform and Agentforce with NVIDIA AI Enterprise. The NVIDIA software named in the announcement included NIM microservices and NeMo, which can be used for model customization. Salesforce would bring its platform and customer-data context; NVIDIA would contribute accelerated computing and AI software.
The companies said this combination would support predictive and generative AI workflows, autonomous agents, and interactive avatars. Their announcement framed the work as a strategic collaboration to accelerate enterprise AI-agent development, not as a claim that NVIDIA hardware alone runs every Agentforce deployment.

How Agentforce was designed to work
Salesforce presented Agentforce as a suite of agents for service, sales, marketing, and commerce. Rather than only answering a prompt, an agent could be configured to use business information, decide what to do within its assigned scope, and take actions.

Reasoning and data grounding
Salesforce described the Atlas Reasoning Engine as the part of Agentforce that evaluates a query, retrieves relevant data, creates an execution plan, and refines that plan to produce grounded results. Data Cloud was positioned as the layer for unifying structured and unstructured information. Its “Zero Copy” approach can provide access to external data without first duplicating it into Salesforce.
Taking action in business systems
Agents could be extended with existing Salesforce automation: Flow, MuleSoft, and Apex. These integrations are important because an agent’s usefulness depends not just on generating a response, but on having permission and a defined way to carry out a task in connected systems.

Low-code setup and human oversight
Salesforce said customers could customize out-of-the-box agents and deploy them with clicks rather than code, with setup taking minutes. Examples included a Service Agent, a sales-development representative agent, and a merchandising agent. The company also described handing a conversation to a human, along with a summary and recommended next steps, when escalation was appropriate.
These were Salesforce’s product claims and examples at Dreamforce. The announcement cautioned that some features described but not yet released might not arrive on schedule or at all; the announcement by itself does not establish their current packaging, availability, or performance.

Agentforce is an agent platform, not just a copilot
Salesforce positioned Agentforce as a step beyond copilots. A copilot typically assists a person who remains responsible for initiating and directing each task. An autonomous agent is intended to work toward a defined goal by interpreting a request, consulting relevant information, choosing from permitted actions, and carrying out a workflow. In practice, an agent still depends on its configuration, data access, permissions, and guardrails; “autonomous” does not mean unrestricted or reliable without oversight.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff described the shift as “moving beyond copilots to humans and intelligent agents working seamlessly to drive customer success.” NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang similarly characterized agents as assistants that could enhance work across companies and jobs. These statements express the companies’ vision, rather than independent evidence of outcomes.

What Dreamforce demonstrated about adoption
Salesforce said more than 45,000 Trailblazers from over 140 countries attended Dreamforce 2024 in person, with additional viewers on Salesforce+. The company also reported that customers built more than 10,000 autonomous agents at the event and that more than 1,200 customers signed up for its Agentforce Launch Zone. These are Salesforce-reported event figures, not independently verified measures of production deployments or lasting business results.
Salesforce customer Wiley offered an early outcome claim: Kevin Quigley, its senior manager of continuous improvement, said piloting Agentforce during back-to-school season resulted in a more than 40% increase in case resolution compared with Wiley’s old bot. That is a customer-reported result for one pilot; the announcement does not provide a methodology that would make it a general benchmark.

Which companies were involved in the Agentforce ecosystem
Salesforce announced an Agentforce Partner Network that included AWS, Google Cloud, IBM, Workday, Box, DocuSign, Zoom, and other launch partners. Partner-built actions and templates were intended for distribution through AppExchange. Named implementation partners included Accenture, Deloitte Digital, Capgemini, IBM Consulting, PwC, and Slalom. These announcements describe the ecosystem Salesforce said it was assembling in 2024; they do not establish current partner terms or the availability of each integration.
Salesforce also cited an average 31% faster adoption of emerging technologies among customers using consulting partners. That figure came from Salesforce’s 2023 Partner Value / AppExchange Customer Success Survey of 1,000 customers, so it is Salesforce-reported survey data, not an independent benchmark of Agentforce results.
What the NVIDIA collaboration does—and does not—establish
- It establishes a strategic collaboration: Salesforce and NVIDIA announced an intent to combine Salesforce’s platform and data context with NVIDIA AI software and accelerated computing.
- It identifies technologies in scope: NVIDIA AI Enterprise, NIM microservices, and NeMo were named alongside Agentforce.
- It does not establish a universal deployment architecture: The announcement does not say every Agentforce customer must use NVIDIA infrastructure or that NVIDIA hardware is required.
- It does not independently validate performance: Attendance, adoption, and customer outcome figures cited at Dreamforce were company- or customer-reported.
- It is not a current availability guide: Product packaging, pricing, availability, and partner terms can change after the September 2024 announcement.
For a business evaluating Agentforce, the announcement is best read as a description of the intended technology partnership and product direction. A deployment decision requires checking current Salesforce documentation and terms, then assessing data governance, reasoning and planning, integrations, low-code customization, deployment channels, human handoff, infrastructure and model control, and independently verified performance.
