Choose Skyrim if you want the Elder Scrolls role-playing experience and are considering Anniversary Edition’s bundle of expansions and Creation Club content. That is a preference match, not a claim that one game is objectively better. Your platform and the specific edition available to you also matter.
How the two games approach role-playing
Both are fantasy RPGs, but the clearest distinction in the official descriptions is what they emphasize. Capcom describes Dragon’s Dogma 2 as a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG in which players shape the Arisen, vocation, party, and approach to different situations. Bethesda’s Anniversary Edition listing focuses on Skyrim’s core game and a collection of official expansions and Creation Club content.
There is no established head-to-head measurement here for map size, quest quality, playtime, performance, or value. The practical choice is about the kind of play and content you want, rather than a reliable numerical ranking.
What Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers
Combat built around tactics
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the stronger fit if combat is the deciding factor. PlayStation’s description highlights enemies that learn and react to player tactics, opportunities to exploit weaknesses, and the use of the environment. Those features point to encounters where how you approach a fight matters, rather than a comparison based on unsupported claims about which game has “better” combat.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A customizable hero and Pawn party
You can customize the Arisen and your main Pawn. PlayStation says two additional Pawns can be hired through in-game options or online. The online hiring option does not make the game multiplayer: Steam identifies Dragon’s Dogma 2 as single-player, and the Pawns are companions in that experience.
Pick Dragon’s Dogma 2 if a customizable companion party and tactical action are central to what you want from an RPG.

Bethesda describes that content as including quests, weapons, armor, spells, and dungeons.
The bundle is specific to Anniversary Edition; do not assume that every Skyrim edition on every platform contains the same content. Bethesda notes that content and availability can vary by platform and region.

What the sales figure does—and does not—say
Capcom reported more than 7.9 million Dragon’s Dogma series units sold cumulatively as of September 30, 2023. That is a series-wide figure, not sales for Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone, and it is not a like-for-like sales comparison with Skyrim.
Verdict
Make Dragon’s Dogma 2 your pick if you want reactive action combat and a customizable Pawn party. Choose Skyrim if the Elder Scrolls experience and Anniversary Edition’s bundled content are the stronger draw. Before buying, compare the exact platform and edition available to you, especially for Skyrim’s content bundle and the announced Switch 2 releases.
