Neither DraftKings nor FanDuel is a clear overall winner based on feature lists alone. Both offer live betting and same-game parlays, but the best fit depends on whether sportsbook betting is legal where you are, which markets and prices appear for your account, and how each app handles bet slips, payments, promotions, and responsible-play controls. Compare the same event and market in both apps rather than relying on brand claims or a bonus headline.

This comparison covers the U.S. online sportsbooks as of October 4, 2026. State rules, product availability, features, and offers can change.

DraftKings vs. FanDuel at a glance

Location eligibility You must be physically in a jurisdiction where DraftKings is licensed for sportsbook wagering. Its broad availability headline includes other products, not just the sportsbook. DraftKings availability overview Your state determines whether FanDuel shows Sportsbook or a separate product such as Predicts. FanDuel location and product support
Responsible-play tools Its player-protection materials describe deposit, wagering, and time limits, plus self-exclusion. Rules can vary by state. DraftKings responsible gaming FanDuel’s Missouri launch announcement described in-app time, deposit, and wager limits and a My Spend dashboard. That announcement does not establish that every tool is available in every state.

The table summarizes operator descriptions, not independent testing. It does not establish that one app has deeper markets, better odds, greater reliability, or better customer service.

Is DraftKings or FanDuel better?

There is no evidence-based universal winner in the available product information. Both cover core features such as in-game betting and parlays; the practical differences that matter to an individual bettor are the specific markets, displayed odds, app flow, terms, payment choices, and protections available in their jurisdiction.

For a useful comparison, pick a legal state, one event, and one market available in both apps. Check them close together in time because prices can move. A parlay builder or odds-boost label does not, by itself, show that a bet is better value.

How to compare the apps fairly

  1. Confirm sportsbook eligibility. Check the current state rules and each operator’s sportsbook availability, then make sure the app identifies the product as Sportsbook rather than a separate fantasy, free-to-play, or predictions product.
  2. Choose the same event and market. Compare like with like—for example, the same team spread or player prop—not different markets that happen to appear on the same screen.
  3. Record the displayed price at roughly the same time. Note the odds and any market limits shown. Prices change, so comparisons made at different times may not be meaningful.
  4. Check the bet-slip experience. Note the number of steps, whether the selection and stake are clear, and any minimum or maximum bet displayed. Review settlement rules and early-payout conditions where offered.
  5. Review deposits and withdrawals. Compare the payment methods and processing disclosures presented in each app; do not assume they are identical across states or accounts.
  6. Read promotion terms before opting in. Record the qualifying action, eligibility, expiration, payout form, and any play-through conditions. A headline offer is not necessarily cash you can withdraw.
  7. Inspect support and safety controls. Find customer support and the available deposit, wager, and time limits in each account before placing a bet.

Which sportsbook has better odds?

The available operator materials do not establish that either sportsbook consistently offers better odds. That claim needs a same-market, same-time comparison; odds can change, and an app may not offer the same market or terms in every jurisdiction. Check the actual price displayed for the bet you are considering rather than inferring value from a feature list or promotion.

How do same-game parlays and live betting compare?

Both platforms offer these features, but feature availability does not prove equal coverage or pricing. DraftKings says Same Game Parlays are available before games and live for select leagues. FanDuel describes Same Game Parlay and in-game betting with odds that update during play. Check the leagues and selections enabled in your state, the permitted legs, the settlement rules, and the final price in the bet slip.

FanDuel announced player game logs and Bet Protect+ for the 2026 NFL season on September 1, 2026. The announcement describes conditions for those experiences; it is a product example, not evidence that FanDuel is better overall. FanDuel’s September 1, 2026 announcement

Can you use DraftKings or FanDuel in your state?

Check the sportsbook specifically and confirm the rules for your location before creating or funding an account. DraftKings says sportsbook bets require the customer to be physically in a state where it is licensed. Its “available nationwide” language combines sportsbook, predictions, and free-to-play availability; it should not be read as a claim that its sportsbook accepts bets in every state.

FanDuel support says the customer’s state determines whether the app shows Sportsbook or a separate product such as Predicts. A brand’s presence in a state does not, by itself, establish that online sportsbook wagering is available there. Licensing, age requirements, and permitted markets are jurisdiction-specific and may change.

How do promotions and responsible-play tools differ?

Promotions

DraftKings says an offer may require opt-in and directs users to review its full terms. Check the terms displayed in your account for eligibility, qualifying action, expiration, payout form, and any play-through requirement. No current, directly comparable offer amount is established for both operators here, so compare the live terms rather than a published headline.

Responsible-play controls

DraftKings describes deposit, wagering, and time limits and self-exclusion on its player-protection page, which advises: “Always establish limits for depositing and wagering before you start playing.” FanDuel’s Missouri launch announcement described in-app time, deposit, and wager limits, as well as a personalized My Spend dashboard. Availability and state-specific requirements can differ, so check the controls in the app where you live.

Sports betting involves financial risk, and a limit tool cannot guarantee against harm. If betting stops feeling like entertainment, stop and seek local help. DraftKings’ responsible-gaming page points users to the National Council on Problem Gambling.
