If you are looking for a reusable WhatsApp .exe or .msi file for Windows, there is an important limitation: WhatsApp does not currently publish a verified standalone offline installer.
The official Windows app is distributed through the Microsoft Store. You can install it through the Store, Microsoft’s installer link, or WinGet, but each method retrieves the app online. If you need WhatsApp without installing a Windows app, use WhatsApp Web instead.
What the official WhatsApp download page provides
The current WhatsApp download page does not expose a conventional Windows offline download such as WhatsAppSetup.exe or an MSI package. Its Windows-related flow points users toward browser access and the current Store-based experience.
That means guides telling you to download an official WhatsApp Windows .exe and install it completely offline are outdated or unsupported by the current download page. Do not download supposed offline installers from random software sites: the file may be modified, bundled with unwanted software, or simply be an old package.

Install WhatsApp for Windows from Microsoft Store
This is the standard official Windows installation route.
- Open Microsoft Store from the Windows Start menu.
- Search for WhatsApp.
- Select WhatsApp from WhatsApp from Meta.
- Select Get.
- Allow Microsoft Store to download and install the app.

The Store installation is not offline. Windows must be able to contact Microsoft’s Store services and retrieve the package.

Open the link in a browser and follow the Microsoft installation prompts. This may download or launch Microsoft’s installer flow, depending on your Windows configuration. It does not provide an offline WhatsApp package that you can copy to another PC and install without internet access.
Install WhatsApp with WinGet
WinGet is useful when Microsoft Store’s graphical interface is inconvenient or when you prefer a command-line installation. Open Windows Terminal or PowerShell and run:
winget install 9NKSQGP7F2NH -s msstoreFor an explicitly exact match, use:
winget install --id 9NKSQGP7F2NH -e -s msstoreConfirm any prompts that appear. The command uses the msstore source, so it is still an online Microsoft Store installation—not a way to download a portable WhatsApp installer.

Link WhatsApp to your phone
After installation, open WhatsApp on Windows. The app displays a QR code or linking instructions. Keep WhatsApp active on your phone and use the linked-device menu:

Scan the QR code shown by the Windows app. WhatsApp will then link the computer to your account. This account-linking step is required even when the Windows app itself was installed successfully.
Use WhatsApp Web instead
If you cannot install the Windows app, open web.whatsapp.com in a supported browser. Link it from your phone using the same Linked devices menu.
WhatsApp Web is the practical alternative for:
- Computers where Microsoft Store is unavailable or blocked.
- Older Windows installations that do not meet the desktop app’s requirements.
- 32-bit Windows systems, for which Microsoft community guidance reports no current 32-bit WhatsApp desktop package.
- Users who do not want to install a Windows application.
Why Microsoft Store may not show Get
If the Get button is missing, disabled, or the installation fails, the computer may not meet the app’s requirements. Microsoft Store can hide or block installation controls when compatibility checks fail.

Other documented causes of Store download failures include:
- Microsoft Store is not correctly registered for the current Windows user.
- Store downloads or updates are blocked by policy.
- Required Microsoft service endpoints are unavailable.
- A firewall, proxy, VPN, or security product is interfering with the connection.
Try these checks in order:
- Confirm that you are signed in to Microsoft Store and that Windows has an active internet connection.
- Temporarily test without a VPN or restrictive proxy, if your organization permits it.
- Open the direct Microsoft installer link above.
- Run the WinGet command from an elevated or normal Windows Terminal session.
- If the Store route remains blocked, use WhatsApp Web.
On managed work or school PCs, an administrator may have disabled Microsoft Store or restricted app installation. In that case, changing local settings may not solve the problem; contact the administrator or use the browser version if permitted.

Not through a verified official offline WhatsApp distribution. The Microsoft Store listing and WinGet command identify and install the app from Microsoft’s online catalog. They are not documented as methods for producing a reusable standalone installer.
You may see third-party sites offering files with names such as WhatsAppSetup.exe. Treat these cautiously. The current official WhatsApp download page does not verify such a package, and downloading an unsigned or repackaged executable creates an avoidable security risk.
