To register a standard new domain at Hostinger, use accurate registrant details, a working email address and a valid phone number. You must also follow Hostinger’s terms and applicable laws, and complete any verification requested for your registration. Some country-code extensions have extra eligibility or document rules, so check the requirements for your exact domain ending before you buy.

What do you need to register a domain at Hostinger?

Hostinger requires new domain registrations to comply with its Terms of Service and Domain Name Registration Agreement. Enter complete, accurate contact information and keep it current. Registries may review the details, and Hostinger may ask for evidence to verify them.

  • Email: Provide an address you can access. Some temporary or restricted email services are unsupported. Avoid using an address on the domain you are registering, because it may not work until the domain is set up.
  • Phone: Enter a valid number with the correct country code and length. Hostinger advises against numbers made up of repeated identical digits.
  • Supporting evidence, if requested: Depending on the extension and verification situation, Hostinger may ask for government-issued photo ID, proof of address, phone verification, proof of incorporation or a government-issued certificate validating business activity. These are possible checks, not a standard document bundle required of every registrant.

What names and uses can be rejected?

Hostinger may reject a domain name or refer it for additional review if it appears offensive, trademark-protected, misleading or suspicious. A registrant must also comply with applicable law and use the domain for legitimate purposes. Hostinger identifies malware distribution, phishing, piracy and trademark infringement as examples of prohibited conduct that can result in suspension or deletion.

Do you have to verify your contact details?

Yes, when verification is required. Hostinger’s contact verification guidance gives most domains a 15-day period after purchase, transfer or a change to registrant contact details. If verification is not completed on time, the domain may be temporarily suspended.

The deadline is shorter for India-related registrations: Hostinger gives a 7-day period for every .IN domain, regardless of the registrant’s country, and for registrations listing India as the registrant country. Follow the deadline and verification instructions in the messages Hostinger sends for your domain.

Why do requirements vary by domain ending?

Country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) can have registry rules beyond Hostinger’s general contact requirements. Depending on the extension, those rules may cover who is eligible to register, local presence, identity or business documents, verification steps and review by the registry. Hostinger’s guidance does not establish one document checklist that applies to every extension; check the registration flow and the specific requirements for the TLD you want.

Example: registering a .IN domain

Hostinger’s .IN registration guide describes possible phone verification before registration is completed, email verification within seven days, and identity checks. NIXI may also review names containing certain reserved keywords, which can affect activation even if the contact details are valid. These are .IN-specific examples, not rules to assume for other domain endings.

Does a transfer restriction affect registration?

Not usually as a prerequisite to obtaining a domain, but it can affect how soon you can move it to another registrar. Hostinger’s Domain Registrant Agreement describes a general 60-day transfer restriction for gTLDs after initial registration or a registrar transfer, in line with the applicable ICANN transfer policy. Transfers of ccTLDs may have separate registry restrictions.
