Vijil’s official pages reviewed for this article do not verify a product called “DART.” They describe Diamond as an agent-evaluation product, Dome as a runtime guardrail offering, and Evaluate as a framework for testing LLM applications. Diamond is the closest documented match to the claim that Vijil tests AI agents for security flaws and policy violations, but there is no basis to treat “DART” and “Diamond” as interchangeable names.
What is Vijil DART?
“Vijil DART” is not substantiated by the official Vijil product pages cited here. Those pages name Diamond, Dome, and Evaluate; they do not establish that DART is a current or former Vijil product. Confirm the name with an authoritative Vijil source before relying on it.
Vijil’s platform description presents tools for different parts of an AI agent’s lifecycle: Diamond for evaluation, Dome for runtime guardrails, Discover for agent inventory, and Darwin for ongoing improvement. Product names and availability can change, so check the vendor’s current documentation when making a purchasing or deployment decision.
What does Vijil’s Diamond evaluate?
Vijil describes Diamond as a way to test agents with scenarios tailored to their context, including resistance to prompt injection and compliance with safety policies. Its product page says probes draw from OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS, garak, and internal red-team sources. The vendor also says detectors compare responses with human-labeled ground truth and that reports can trace failures back to probes.

Vijil says Diamond rolls results into nine categories scored from 0 to 100, with confidence intervals, and combines them into a policy-weighted Trust Score. These are vendor descriptions of the product, not independent proof that it will identify every relevant vulnerability or policy failure in a particular deployment.
What a useful evaluation should include
A score is easier to interpret when it comes with the material needed to understand what was tested and why a result was assigned. Vijil says a Diamond report includes a verdict, score, evaluation identifier, harness, timestamp, and transcripts for failures. When assessing a report, ask to see the underlying probes and transcripts, how detectors are calibrated, how thresholds are chosen, and whether the scenarios reflect your policies and operating conditions.

- System coverage: Clarify whether tests cover the full agent, its model, tools, MCP gateway, delegated agents, policies, and multi-turn behavior—not just a model response in isolation.
- Scenario design: Find out whether the harness uses a generic benchmark, agent-specific scenarios, policy-generated tests, or a mix, and what is excluded.
- Evidence quality: Ask about reproducible probes and seeds, transcripts, detector calibration, confidence intervals, and the scoring method.
- Deployment and data handling: Confirm where prompts, outputs, and traces are processed and stored, and whether the deployment option fits your data requirements.
- Independent validation: Request the full methodology and raw results behind benchmark claims rather than relying on a headline score.
Does agent security testing catch prompt injection?
Testing can probe whether an agent resists prompt-injection attempts, but passing a test suite is evidence about the tested scenarios—not a guarantee that the agent is secure. Results depend on what the harness covers, the agent configuration and tools in scope, detector quality, and the policies used to judge responses.
Vijil’s research page says the company publishes its taxonomy, open-weight detectors, versioned probes and seeds, and methodology. That transparency posture can help teams inspect how an evaluation is constructed; the relevant version and evidence still need to be examined for the specific use case. As Vijil puts it on that page: “An instrument nobody can inspect is a vendor’s opinion, and an opinion is not evidence in front of a regulator.”

How is evaluation different from a runtime guardrail?
Evaluation and runtime enforcement solve different problems. Diamond is described as testing an agent, typically as part of assessing it before deployment or after a change. Dome is described as a runtime guardrail that constrains behavior while an agent is operating. A test report can reveal weaknesses; a guardrail is intended to limit behavior in production. One does not automatically replace the other.
Vijil’s platform overview frames its tools across the agent lifecycle: evaluate before deployment, protect during production, and adapt from real-world conditions. Teams should map each product’s actual role and data flows to their own architecture instead of assuming that an evaluation score means a production control is in place.

How do Diamond and Evaluate differ?
Vijil describes Evaluate separately as a framework for testing LLM applications with curated or user-provided benchmarks across performance, reliability, security, and safety. Diamond’s product description is specifically framed around agent evaluation and policy-oriented scenarios. The pages use different product language; do not assume their features, scope, or reporting are identical without checking current documentation.

The authors of the 2025 paper Security Challenges in AI Agent Deployment: Insights from a Large Scale Public Competition report that 1.8 million prompt-injection attacks were submitted and that more than 60,000 successful elicitation events involved policy violations. The paper gives examples including unauthorized data access, illicit financial actions, and regulatory noncompliance. These figures describe that competition, not Vijil Diamond, DART, or customer outcomes.

What to verify before choosing an agent-testing service
- Confirm the product identity and scope. Ask Vijil to identify the product being offered and specify which agents, models, tools, gateways, delegated agents, and policies it can test.
- Inspect the harness. Ask for representative scenarios, the source and version of probes, how policy-specific tests are generated, and how multi-turn behavior is handled.
- Review evidence behind findings. Request transcripts, detector details, thresholds, confidence intervals, and the method used to turn test outcomes into category scores or an overall score.
- Match the lifecycle role to the need. Determine whether you need pre-deployment evaluation, production-time controls, or both; assess Diamond and Dome according to their distinct stated roles.
- Check deployment and commercial terms. Vijil’s Diamond page describes a free client and hosted option, and lists deployment inside a customer VPC, on-premises, or in an air-gapped network as a paid deployment category. It does not state a specific price on the reviewed page. Confirm availability, data handling, and pricing directly with the vendor.
- Demand full benchmark context. Vijil’s resources page lists a September 1, 2026 report comparing Dome with AWS, Nvidia, and Google Cloud guardrails. The listing alone does not establish the methodology or comparative outcomes; review the full report before drawing conclusions about performance.
