Meta’s materials support a qualified yes, not a blanket claim that every glasses prompt is used to train AI. When you ask Meta AI to analyze what the glasses see, the system can capture an image, convert your spoken question to text, and send both to the model. Meta says information from its products and services can inform training, and it has specifically said that Meta AI interactions are used for training in the EU. Its public statements do not establish that every glasses image or prompt is selected for training in every region or setting.
What happens when you ask Meta AI to analyze a scene?
Meta describes a camera-based assistant interaction as a distinct flow from simply taking a photo for your gallery. For example, when you say “Hey Meta” and ask what landmark or plant is in view, the glasses can take a photo. Speech recognition converts your words to text, and the image and text are passed to Meta AI for interpretation. Meta’s AI glasses privacy information and its system card describe this process.
That explains how information can reach the AI; it does not, by itself, show that the specific image or prompt will be used to train a model.
AI analysis, gallery storage, and model training are different data paths

Meta also says the glasses’ capture LED blinks when gallery content is captured, and that blocking or disabling the LED disables the camera. The LED is a capture signal; it does not explain where AI prompt inputs are processed or whether those inputs are used for training. Meta’s product FAQ covers the indicator.

What Meta has said about training, including in the EU
Meta’s general description of training sources includes information from its products and services. Separately, in an announcement published April 14, 2025 and updated March 27, 2026, Meta said it would train on public content shared by adults in the EU and on people’s Meta AI interactions, including questions and queries. Meta said people in the EU could object to their public data being used. Meta’s EU announcement is the basis for that regional statement.
The EU announcement is evidence of Meta’s stated approach to Meta AI interactions in that region, not proof that every question asked through glasses is used for training. The public materials cited here do not establish a universal rule across users, regions, or settings, or confirm that every image and prompt is selected for model training.

What can you delete or object to?
Deleting voice recordings
Meta says users can delete voice recordings with Meta AI. Its privacy information says deleted information will not be used for future training, while noting that deletion does not instantly change what a model may already have learned. The statement concerns the information it addresses—voice recordings—and should not be treated as a control that governs every data type or every training use. Meta’s AI glasses privacy information explains the limitation.
Objecting to public-data use in the EU
Meta said that people in the EU could object to their public data being used for training. That is a regional option described in the company’s EU announcement; it is not described there as a universal control for all glasses prompts or all regions.

Prototype tester terms
Meta’s policy for prototype testing says that testers who choose to store voice commands may have interactions reviewed to improve, troubleshoot, and train speech-recognition features. Meta says prototype terms can differ from retail-product terms, so this policy does not establish the current training policy for retail glasses. Meta’s prototype testing policy is specifically about testers.

On September 23, 2026, Meta described an expansion of Private Processing to AI glasses. Meta says the design uses confidential virtual machines to run AI workloads in cloud data centers, with the intended effect that even Meta cannot access data during processing. This is Meta’s description of its planned privacy architecture, not independent verification of how a live service operates. Meta’s engineering announcement explains the design.

Axios reported on September 28, 2026 that Meta planned to bring the feature to glasses by year-end but had not committed to a date. The announcement and report do not establish that Private Processing is already available to every wearer.
