Yes—Gran Turismo 7 requires an internet connection for most functionality. You can choose not to play online, but that does not mean the full game or every feature is available offline. PlayStation’s official US product page states that an internet connection is required for most functionality.
Can you play Gran Turismo 7 offline?
Some offline use is supported, but PlayStation’s official pages do not provide a complete list of which modes and features work without a connection. The Store listing specifically says you can pause during gameplay or cinematics in offline play; that detail confirms an offline context exists, but it does not establish that the entire campaign or every feature is playable offline.
PlayStation describes GT7 as having a solo campaign, but a solo campaign is not the same as a promise that the campaign is fully available without internet. If you need to play with no connection, plan for limited or uncertain functionality rather than assuming the whole game will work.
Do you need PS Plus to play Gran Turismo 7?
PlayStation says online play is optional and requires PlayStation Plus. That answers the multiplayer question: PS Plus is needed for online play. What needs an internet connection?
- Most game functionality: PlayStation’s product page gives this broad connection requirement but does not itemize every affected mode.
- Online play: Optional, but requires PS Plus.
- Updates: PlayStation says an internet connection is required to download updates; it also notes that new content is available through patch updates.
Because the official pages do not publish a mode-by-mode offline inventory, it is not possible to say from those sources exactly what remains playable after disconnecting or which specific features require a connection.

Is My First Gran Turismo the same as Gran Turismo 7?
No. My First Gran Turismo is a separate standalone experience. PlayStation says it does not require an internet connection to play, although online leaderboards do require one.
