Its stated features include system-wide keystroke protection and defenses against low-level keyloggers. How well those protections apply to a current Windows setup is uncertain: the version and test information available here dates to 2021.
What Ghostpress is designed to protect against
Ghostpress is Windows anti-keylogging software, not a hardware security device. Its official product page describes it as software intended to prevent malicious programs from capturing keyboard presses. It lists full system-wide keystroke protection, anti-low-level-keylogger protection, and target-window screenshot protection (Ghostpress).
The help documentation describes five capabilities: protection across programs, protection against attempts to close Ghostpress or change its settings, optional typing-delay obfuscation, portable operation, and a low-level protection layer (Ghostpress help documentation). These are descriptions of the product’s intended defenses, not proof that it detects or defeats every keylogger.
- Keystroke capture: The software aims to interfere with methods programs use to record keys across Windows applications.
- Process interference: Its process-protection feature is intended to make it harder for other software to close Ghostpress or alter its settings.
- Typing patterns: An optional delay feature is described as spoofing typing style. It changes the timing of input; it is not a substitute for protecting a compromised computer.
- Screenshots: Target-window screenshot protection is listed among the features, but the documentation does not establish that it blocks every way malware can capture screen content.
What the evidence says about effectiveness and recency
Available third-party evidence is historical. SnapFiles lists Ghostpress version 2.5, last updated May 25, 2021, and reports that its testing with AKLT blocked common keylogging methods (SnapFiles listing). That is a dated test report, not a current independent certification or a guarantee against all attack techniques.

Softaro lists version 2.5.1266 and an update date of May 25, 2021. Its listing includes Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 compatibility as reported at that time (Softaro listing). This historical compatibility information does not establish present-day compatibility, ongoing maintenance, or effectiveness on current Windows releases. Check for a current official release and documentation before relying on Ghostpress.
Can Ghostpress protect passwords on a compromised PC?
No software-only tool can reliably guarantee secure input when the host is fully compromised by malware with administrative-level access. Such malware may interfere with security software or capture information through methods outside the protections Ghostpress describes. A March 23, 2026 PlugOS support response makes this limitation explicit and recommends using another host or a clean environment, such as a live USB, in that situation (PlugOS support response).

- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5 NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required

Ghostpress should therefore be treated as one possible layer against some software keylogging techniques—not as assurance that passwords, messages, or other sensitive input are safe. It does not establish protection against every kernel-level attack, hardware keylogger, remote-access compromise, or physically attached device.
Installation, permissions, and licensing
Ghostpress is described in its help documentation as portable: conventional installation is not required, and administrator privileges are optional. The official site offers Free, Pro, and Business tiers; its download flow requires acceptance of the license (Ghostpress official site).

Ghostpress may be worth evaluating if you want an additional Windows defense against common software attempts to capture keystrokes and understand the limits of that protection. Before using it, verify that a current version is available for your Windows setup, review its license for your intended use, and avoid treating a successful installation or a past test as proof that a compromised system is secure.
