No—not as a general discount on a Mac or iPad. Apple’s U.S. Education Store advertises savings on eligible devices, but its “up to 10%” claim applies to coverage for a new Mac or iPad, not to the device’s purchase price. The exact education-price reduction varies by product and configuration; Apple does not publish one universal percentage.
What does Apple’s 10% student discount apply to?
On Apple’s U.S. Education Store, the up-to-10% figure refers to coverage for a new Mac or iPad—specifically, AppleCare+ coverage. It is not a promise that students pay 10% less for the computer or tablet itself. Apple’s Education Store presents device education pricing separately.
That distinction matters when comparing a checkout total: an education price reduces the cost of an eligible product, while a discount on coverage applies to a separate protection plan. Neither claim establishes the price of a particular configuration without checking the current listing.

Yes. Apple lists Macs and iPads with education savings in its U.S. Education Store. However, the store page reviewed does not give a single percentage that applies to every eligible product, and it does not show standard-price baselines alongside every education price. So the exact saving for a particular model must be checked against the regular price of the same configuration in the same market.

Who qualifies for Apple education pricing in the U.S.?
Apple’s U.S. eligibility terms cover more than currently enrolled college students. Qualifying groups include:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- K–12 employees at public or private schools, including homeschool teachers; certain serving school board members and PTA/PTO officers also qualify.
- Higher-education students attending or accepted into an eligible institution, as well as faculty and staff.
- Parents purchasing for a child who attends or has been accepted into higher education.
Education-priced purchases are not for institutional purchasing or resale. Apple’s terms also set annual U.S. quantity limits: one desktop, one Mac mini, one MacBook, one display, two iPads, one Apple Watch, and two accessories. The limits apply across eligible purchase routes, including online, Apple Retail Stores, and Authorized Campus Resellers. Review Apple’s U.S. education sales policies for the complete terms.

Do you need to verify student status?
Apple says education-savings eligibility must be verified with UNiDAYS. Its U.S. shopping help says verification is available online or in store. Signing in to an Apple Account before verification keeps the customer verified for a year, according to Apple’s help page. See Apple’s U.S. education-pricing information for current verification details.
How to check the real saving before you buy
- Open the U.S. Apple Education Store and choose the Mac or iPad you want.
- Match the configuration you intend to buy, including model, size, and storage. Compare its education price with the regular U.S. price for that same configuration.
- Check whether the offer is an immediate product-price reduction, a separate coverage discount, or a promotion with future-use value. Do not treat a gift card’s face value as cash off the purchase price.
- Confirm eligibility and verification requirements, then review the live terms, dates, and quantity limits before checkout.
Use the matching country or region’s Education Store: Apple says special education pricing is tied to the purchaser’s local store, and U.S. pricing is available through the U.S. Education Store. Apple lists regional stores through its country and region selector. Eligibility and offers can differ by market, so U.S. rules should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.

Are Apple’s seasonal student offers the same as education pricing?
No. A seasonal promotion has its own dates, eligible products, and terms; it is separate from the ongoing education store. Apple’s 2026 U.S. College Student Offer ran from July 16 through September 24, 2026, pairing specified MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Air, and iPad Pro purchases with an Apple Gift Card promotion product. That offer had ended by October 7, 2026. Its terms limited one promotion product per purchaser for eligible Mac purchases and one for eligible iPad purchases. The gift card was for future purchases, so its face value was not an immediate reduction in the device price. See Apple’s U.S. 2026 offer terms.
