Discord Nitro is the platform’s full paid plan: it adds two Server Boosts, higher account limits, expanded customization, and higher-quality streaming. Nitro Basic is a narrower option focused on cross-server emoji and stickers, Super Reactions, customization extras, and uploads up to 50 MB. Discord’s current plan overview says Nitro uploads can reach 1 GB, but its separate limits table still lists 500 MB, so check the limit shown in your account before relying on it.
What Discord Nitro adds
Nitro expands what you can do across Discord: it raises some account limits, adds customization options, improves streaming settings, and includes two Server Boosts. The exact mix depends on which paid plan you choose.
Discord sells both Nitro and Nitro Basic with monthly or annual billing. Benefits remain available through the paid billing period. Discord says, “Cancel anytime—your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period.” Prices vary by location and other factors, so check the price displayed in your account rather than assuming a universal rate. Nitro vs. Nitro Basic
Nitro Basic keeps a subset of Nitro’s features. The full plan is the one to consider if you need included Server Boosts, HD streaming, higher message and server limits, or the broadest customization set.

Discord’s plan overview and account-limits table currently disagree on Nitro’s maximum upload size. The overview, updated September 29, 2026, says up to 1 GB; the limits table, updated March 2, 2026, says 500 MB. Both are official Discord pages, so treat 1 GB as the latest figure stated in the overview, not as a figure confirmed consistently across Discord’s documentation. Server Boosts
Nitro includes two Server Boosts. Boosts support a server and contribute toward unlocking server perks; they are useful if you want to help a community you belong to rather than only personalize your own account.

Emoji, stickers, reactions, and soundboard
Both paid plans let you use custom emoji and stickers across servers, subject to the permissions available to you. Both also include Super Reactions. Nitro adds soundboard features, while Basic does not list that benefit.
Streaming and customization
Nitro includes HD streaming and a broader set of customization tools, including profile and per-server profile options, themes, custom video backgrounds, and app icon customization. Basic includes custom video backgrounds and app icon customization, but not the wider Nitro set.

Higher account limits
The account-limits table lists Nitro at 200 servers and a 4,000-character message limit, compared with 100 servers and 2,000 characters for both a free account and Nitro Basic. Nitro Rewards: partner offers and eligibility
Discord includes Nitro Rewards at no additional cost with eligible Nitro subscriptions. Offers change, depend on region and offer-specific terms, and require an active Nitro subscription. Nitro Basic and Nitro Classic members are not eligible.

Discord’s current Rewards page lists Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition for eligible Nitro subscribers who do not already have Game Pass and live in a supported region. The listed offer includes 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud gaming each month, and the ability to earn up to $25 a year in the Store with Rewards. How Discord Nitro gifting works
You can gift Nitro or Nitro Basic through Discord. Discord’s gifting guide also documents digital Nitro gift codes sold through Amazon.com for one, three, six, or twelve months. The Amazon option is currently listed for the United States and European Union; it does not include Nitro Basic.
