Its biggest change was a new minimum requirement of Debian 12 Bookworm, alongside two additions to the software catalog and support for additional hardware and services. The release is now a historical milestone rather than the current DietPi version: the project released v10.7 on September 12, 2026.
What the DietPi 10.0 beta announced
On January 13, 2026, the DietPi project opened testing for its upcoming v10.0 release with the request, “Please help testing and hardening our upcoming release.” The open-beta issue was posted under the project account MichaIng. DietPi v10.0 was subsequently released on January 25, 2026.
The beta is best understood in the context of the release it led to: a Debian baseline change with consequences for upgrades and some older single-board computers, as well as additions to DietPi’s software catalog. The completed release notes describe the changes in detail at DietPi’s v10.0 release notes; the original testing call is at the v10.0 open-beta issue.
Debian 12 Bookworm is the v10.0 minimum
DietPi scripts from v10.0 require Debian 12 Bookworm or later. This is the key condition to check before planning an upgrade: a DietPi version alone does not make a system eligible if its Debian base is still too old.

What happens to Debian 11 Bullseye systems
DietPi says Bullseye systems are migrated automatically to a dedicated branch rather than continuing on the v10 path. The project recommends upgrading affected systems to Debian 12. Once that is done, v10 becomes available at the next update check or by running dietpi-update.
Upgrade routes from older DietPi versions
- DietPi v8.0 or later: direct updates to DietPi v10 are supported, provided the system meets the Debian 12 requirement.
- Earlier than DietPi v8.0: the supported route goes through v9.20 on a separate branch, then to v10, again subject to the Debian requirement.
These are staged paths, not a reason to skip checking the operating-system base. Follow DietPi’s release guidance for the system in question before changing branches or upgrading Debian.

New software catalog options
Two additions were highlighted in the v10.0 release notes:
- Uptime Kuma: a self-hosted monitoring tool.
- ownCloud Infinite Scale: described by DietPi as the successor to classic ownCloud file sync and share.
These are catalog additions, not a statement that existing installations are automatically migrated to either service.

Hardware and service changes
DietPi in Raspberry Pi Imager
DietPi became selectable in Raspberry Pi Imager under Other general-purpose OS for all Raspberry Pi models. This gives users another way to prepare a DietPi host on a Raspberry Pi board; the release notes do not endorse a specific model or identify one as required.
Other named changes
- The Linux Rocket NPU driver was enabled for Quartz64.
- DietPi-LetsEncrypt’s Nginx syntax was updated for Debian Trixie and later, with HTTP/3 over QUIC enabled. The release notes say the configuration can be applied retrospectively by rerunning
dietpi-letsencrypt. - The release notes also list fixes or improvements for Home Assistant, BirdNET-Go, and Mopidy.
This is a selection of named changes, not a complete inventory of every code change in v10.0.

What v10.0 removed
Some older SBC families lost support
Removing Debian 11 support also ended support for the Sparky SBC, NanoPi M2/T2/Fire2, and NanoPi M3/T3/Fire3 families. DietPi says the vendor Linux versions for these boards could not run Debian 13 Trixie and already had issues with Bookworm; the project had only provided Bullseye images for them. It said support could be reconsidered if working mainline Linux/U-Boot sources or rebased drivers and device trees become available.
Pydio 8 was removed
DietPi removed Pydio 8 from DietPi-Software because it does not support PHP 8.x. The release notes identified Pydio Cells as its successor, planned for DietPi v10.1, and cautioned that migration is possible but limited and requires preparation. That is not a promise of a seamless, automatic migration.

Is DietPi 10.0 still current?
No. DietPi v10.0 was released on January 25, 2026, but the 10 series continued: the official v10.7 release notes are dated September 12, 2026. As of October 4, 2026, v10.0 is not the latest 10-series release. Readers installing or updating DietPi should check the project’s current release information rather than treating the beta or v10.0 notes as current-version guidance.
