The approaching support deadline is for Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro editions—not for those Intel CPU generations. Home and Pro reach end of updates on October 13, 2026; Enterprise and Education remain supported through October 12, 2027.
Are 8th, 9th, and 10th Gen Intel CPUs still on the Windows 11 24H2 list?
Yes. Microsoft’s Windows 11 version 24H2 supported Intel processors list includes 8th, 9th, and 10th Generation Intel Core i3, i5, i7, and i9 processor series. Microsoft notes that the list is continually updated; its page says it was updated February 27, 2025.
This is a processor-series reference, not a promise that every computer using a listed processor is supported in every respect. For an individual PC, check its exact CPU model against the list and confirm it meets the other Windows 11 requirements. Microsoft also advises contacting the device manufacturer about device-specific support.
When does Windows 11 24H2 support end?
The end-of-updates dates depend on the Windows edition, not the Intel processor generation. Microsoft’s September 22, 2026 servicing notice gives these dates for Windows 11 version 24H2:
#1 Best Overall
- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
| Windows 11 24H2 edition | End-of-updates date |
|---|---|
| Home and Pro | October 13, 2026 |
| Enterprise and Education | October 12, 2027 |
The dates are Microsoft’s published calendar dates for the specified editions. They do not identify an Intel CPU cutoff. If you are reading this after a listed date, check Microsoft’s current servicing information for the status of your Windows edition and version.
What happens when 24H2 reaches end of updates?
Microsoft says devices on editions that have reached end of updates will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates, fixes for known issues, time zone updates, or technical support for that version. For devices running 24H2 Home or Pro, Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest Windows 11 version to stay protected and up to date.

How to check your PC’s edition, version, and processor
- Check the Windows edition and version: Open Settings > System > About. Under Windows specifications, review the edition and version.
- Find the exact processor model: In the same About page, look under Device specifications for Processor.
- Compare the model with Microsoft’s list: Search the 24H2 supported Intel processor list for the specific model, rather than relying only on its generation number.
- Check the remaining requirements: Microsoft’s Windows 11 system requirements say a processor must run at 1 GHz or faster, have at least two cores, and appear on Microsoft’s approved CPU list. CPU eligibility alone does not establish that the whole device meets every requirement.
Does the deadline mean you need a new CPU?
No. The published deadline concerns the servicing lifecycle of Windows 11 24H2 editions, while Microsoft’s processor list continues to include the named Intel Core series. The cited Microsoft information does not indicate that a CPU replacement is needed. If your PC is on 24H2 Home or Pro, follow Microsoft’s recommendation to upgrade to the latest Windows 11 version.
