No public source reviewed substantiates a $35M+ Series B, a $190 million pre-money valuation, or $71 million in total funding for Gardens Interactive. The studio announced a $31.3 million Series A on July 11, 2023, co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Krafton. Contemporaneous accounts from Cooley and Axios report the same round.

What funding round did Gardens Interactive announce?

Gardens Interactive announced a $31.3 million Series A on July 11, 2023. The company said the round was co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Krafton. Gardens’ announcement is the primary source for the amount and its description of the financing.

Two contemporaneous accounts corroborate that announcement: law firm Cooley said it advised Gardens on the $31.3 million Series A co-led by Lightspeed and Krafton, and Axios reported the same amount and co-leads. Cooley’s deal notice and Axios’ report provide transaction-side and news confirmation, respectively.

Are the claimed Series B, valuation, and $71 million total confirmed?

The public sources reviewed do not substantiate a $35M+ Series B, a $190 million pre-money valuation, or total funding of $71 million. The evidence identifies the 2023 Series A, but does not establish the claimed later round or valuation. That does not prove that no private or later financing exists; it means these specific figures cannot be verified from the available public announcements and accounts.

One funding database presents a different aggregate: CB Insights lists $35.88 million raised across two rounds and identifies a $31.38 million Series A dated May 31, 2023, as the latest round. That is a database estimate, not a company-confirmed statement of total funding, and it does not verify a Series B or the $71 million claim. See CB Insights’ company profile.

What is Gardens Interactive developing?

In its 2023 financing announcement, Gardens described its game as an online PvPvE fantasy adventure sandbox ARPG. Co-founder and game director Chris Bell said it drew on multiplayer experiences from games he helped design, including Journey and Sky, and described a shapeshifting fantasy wilderness where players could cooperate or betray one another.

The studio’s current homepage describes its flagship project as a shared fantasy adventure and says its focus is “social roleplay.” In its year-in-review published in January 2026, Gardens said its debut game was still secret and referred to Project Gardens as a working title. The recap mentioned remote playtests and an in-person Summer Game Fest teahouse demo for a select group of friends, investors, and potential publishing partners. The studio’s 2025 year-in-review does not announce a consumer release.

The public information reviewed does not identify a release date, platform list, final game title, or consumer product listing. The working title and development descriptions are not a substitute for an announced product launch.
