The DEWALT DCL077B is a compact, hand-positionable task light—not a label for DEWALT’s entire 20V MAX lighting range. Choose it for close work and flexible placement. For a light raised above a work area, look at the DCL079B; for broad area coverage and app control, the DCL074 is the closer fit. The DWST08062 adds two pivoting heads and TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 integration.
DEWALT’s U.S. product pages list different maximum outputs and runtimes, but those figures are not a controlled comparison of beam spread, light at the work surface, or battery life across models. The more useful distinction is how each light is positioned, powered, and packaged.

The DCL077B’s compact body and 360-degree handle make it the hand-positionable option in this group. Its two tripod mounts offer another way to position it when holding the light is inconvenient. DEWALT lists three settings, up to 2,000 lumens, a weight of 2.8 lb, and an IP54 rating. It is also the only model in this comparison whose product page expressly lists compatibility with DEWALT 12V MAX as well as 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT batteries.

Choose the DCL079B to raise light above the work
The DCL079B’s defining feature is its tripod: DEWALT says the pole extends to 7 feet, while the head rotates and pivots. That arrangement can put the light source above a work area rather than on the floor or in someone’s hand. The product page lists up to 4,000 lumens, three settings, and an IP55 rating.
Choose the DCL074 for broad coverage and app control
The DCL074 is designed to stand on its base or hang from its integrated hook. DEWALT lists up to 5,000 lumens and Tool Connect app control and monitoring, making this the connected-control choice among the compared lights. The app feature is distinct from the light’s basic placement options; check the model’s product information and manual for operating details.

Choose the DWST08062 for two adjustable heads and TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0
The DWST08062 has two pivoting LED heads, so you can aim light in more than one direction. DEWALT says it can stand alone, stack on TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 modules, hang from its folding wire hook, or mount on a separately sold tripod. Its product page specifies up to 4,000 lumens with both heads and seven brightness settings.
Battery compatibility, runtime, and package contents
All four compared products are listed as tool-only or light-only configurations with battery and charger separate. The exception is a different package: DEWALT lists the DCL079R1 as a kit that includes a 6Ah battery and charger. Confirm the precise model and included items in the seller’s listing before ordering, since a model name that ends in “B” should not be assumed to include a battery.

Battery compatibility and runtime claims are model-specific. DEWALT’s published runtime figures below are tied to particular batteries and settings, so they should not be read as a general estimate for every pack or brightness level.

What IP ratings and lumen figures can—and cannot—tell you
DEWALT lists the DCL077B and DCL074 at IP54 and the DCL079B at IP55. These are product ratings, not a substitute for the operating instructions: do not assume a rating makes a light suitable for exposure beyond what its manual permits. The cited DWST08062 product information does not state an IP rating.
The maximum output figures help distinguish the manufacturer’s stated peak outputs, but they do not make the DCL074 automatically the best light for every job or prove that it will illuminate a particular surface more evenly. No independent cross-model measurement of output, beam pattern, or runtime is available here. Treat maximum lumens as one selection factor alongside placement, battery platform, and controls.

Related option: DCL073 for corded and cordless use
The DCL073 is a separate branch if you need both corded and cordless operation. DEWALT describes it as usable with 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT batteries and with a cord, and lists over 5,000 lumens, integrated battery charging, AC pass-through, and freestanding, tripod-mounted, or hanging setups. Those extra power features make it less directly comparable to the four lights above.
