DENSO said unauthorized access was identified at group-company sites in Italy and Morocco. In a notice dated April 30, 2026, the automotive parts maker said it recognized the incident on March 28 and could not rule out that some company or external-party information was unlawfully extracted. It had not confirmed significant effects on production or customer deliveries as of the notice.
What happened at DENSO?
DENSO’s April 30, 2026 notice said unauthorized access affected networks at group-company sites in Italy and Morocco. The company said it recognized the access on March 28, established an emergency response structure, took measures on the affected networks, and engaged outside cybersecurity specialists. DENSO’s notice does not identify the specific systems involved or name an attacker.
Was customer or other data stolen?
DENSO said it could not rule out unlawful extraction of some information concerning the company and external parties. That is a possibility the company disclosed, not confirmation that data was taken. Its notice does not specify the information categories, identify affected people or organizations, or give a total number of affected parties.
DENSO said it was informing affected parties sequentially and had reported the incident to relevant authorities. Those statements do not establish how many parties received notice or whether sensitive personal information was exposed.

Did the incident disrupt production or deliveries?
As of its April 30 notice, DENSO said that “no significant impact has been confirmed” on production or product deliveries to customers. This describes the company’s assessment at that time; it is not a claim about the incident’s eventual impact.
Who was behind the attack?
DENSO’s notice describes unauthorized access but does not call it ransomware or identify a perpetrator. Kaspersky ICS CERT’s Q2 2026 threat overview characterized the event as ransomware and listed Qilin. Those details are Kaspersky’s reporting, not an attribution made in DENSO’s own notice; the reviewed material does not establish the attackers’ identity.

How this differs from DENSO’s earlier cyber incident
DENSO’s September 2025 offering circular describes a separate ransomware attack in March 2022 at DENSO Automotive Deutschland GmbH in Germany, which it said did not materially affect business operations. The offering circular concerns a different subsidiary and a different event; the reviewed sources do not connect it to the 2026 incident.
