The Dell Alienware AW2726DM is a compelling entry point to QD-OLED gaming if you want sharp QHD resolution, 240Hz refresh, and OLED contrast without paying premium-monitor prices. Its trade-offs are substantial enough to check against your setup: independent reviewers describe it as relatively dim, and it has no USB ports or built-in speakers.
What is the Alienware AW2726DM?
Dell calls it the Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor AW2726DM. Its US product listing specifies a flat 26.5-inch QD-OLED panel with 2560 × 1440 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms GTG response time, and 1.07 billion colors. Reviewers often round its size to 27 inches; both descriptions refer to the same model. Dell’s listing also specifies height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustment. Dell’s product listing
The combination of QHD and 240Hz suits players who prioritize smooth motion and a high frame rate over 4K resolution. Whether you can make full use of 240Hz depends on your games and graphics hardware.
Is the AW2726DM worth it?
It is worth considering if your priorities are OLED contrast, vivid color, and fast gaming at QHD, and you can accept the brightness and connectivity compromises. Tom’s Hardware praises its image quality, low input lag, gaming performance, and value, while noting lower brightness and the lack of an sRGB mode. Reviewer Christian Eberle summarizes the trade-off: “The Alienware AW2726DM doesn’t have USB ports or internal speakers, but it does have premium-level gaming performance and an image that goes toe-to-toe with any premium OLED, for a significantly lower admission price.” Tom’s Hardware’s review

How bright is the AW2726DM?
Brightness is one of the clearest compromises. TechSpot reports Dell’s advertised brightness as 200 nits and measured 189 nits in SDR after calibrating its review unit. That 189-nit figure is TechSpot’s result under its test conditions, not a measurement of every unit. TechSpot also notes that the monitor lacks VESA DisplayHDR certification. TechSpot’s review

Tom’s Guide describes HDR as relatively dim, while PC Gamer also lists 200 nits full-screen brightness. If your room is bright, or strong HDR highlights are important to you, compare independent brightness tests for alternatives before choosing. Tom’s Guide’s review PC Gamer’s review
What ports and features does it have?
Tom’s Guide lists two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Tom’s Hardware says the monitor has no USB ports and no internal speakers. That makes it less convenient if you rely on a monitor USB hub or expect sound without separate speakers or headphones. Tom’s Guide’s review Tom’s Hardware’s review

- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
For color-critical work, note that TechSpot and Tom’s Hardware both flag the lack of an sRGB mode. Tom’s Hardware reports accurate results after calibration, but that review judgment is not a substitute for checking measurements and your own color-managed workflow. - Consider it if QHD at 240Hz, OLED contrast, and vivid gaming imagery matter more to you than high brightness or extra desk connectivity.
- Compare alternatives closely if you play in a bright room, want stronger HDR brightness, need USB ports, or depend on built-in speakers.
- For color-managed work, review independent color measurements and consider whether the absence of an sRGB mode fits your workflow.
- When comparing monitors, weigh local price, panel type, resolution, refresh rate, tested brightness, port selection, and stand adjustment against your own needs.
The practical verdict is setup-dependent: this is a value-oriented QD-OLED gaming monitor, but the lower brightness and basic connections are not minor details if they conflict with your room or desk.
