Class Trials in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair turn the clues you found during an investigation into arguments you must test. Listen to each claim, match contradictions with evidence using Truth Bullets, and follow the on-screen instructions when the trial shifts into another minigame. This guide explains the reusable basics without revealing chapter solutions or culprit identities.
How do Class Trials work in Danganronpa 2?
A trial is a sequence of debates and other minigames built around the evidence gathered during an investigation. Students make claims about what happened; your job is to identify statements that conflict with the available clues and use the right evidence to challenge them. The broader objective is to uncover what happened. The debate’s outcome carries story consequences, so pay close attention rather than treating the trial as a quiz with disconnected answers. Spike Chunsoft’s official game page describes the trial as students debating and the player using evidence to shoot down false claims.

- Listen to the claim. Focus on what the speaker is actually asserting, not just the topic of the conversation.
- Recall the evidence. Think back to the clues and accounts gathered during the investigation and what each one establishes.
- Find the contradiction. Look for a specific mismatch between a statement and a clue. A relevant-sounding piece of evidence is not necessarily the evidence that disproves the claim.
- Use the trial’s indicated action. In a debate, select and fire the Truth Bullet that directly addresses the contradiction. In other segments, follow that minigame’s prompts and interaction pattern.
How do I use Truth Bullets?
Truth Bullets represent evidence you can bring into a debate. When a statement is false or inconsistent with the clues, select the bullet that directly counters it and use the firing action indicated by your platform’s controls. The goal is to connect a particular claim to a particular fact—not to fire evidence at random.
- Read or listen to the full statement before choosing a target.
- Ask what the statement says that could be contradicted by evidence.
- Choose the clue that proves the relevant detail, rather than one that merely concerns the same person or event.
- Use the game’s Help if you are unsure how to aim, change bullets, or fire on your version.
The controls differ by platform. A PlayStation Vita walkthrough gives Vita-specific inputs for aiming, selecting bullets, firing, and concentration; those button labels should not be assumed to apply to Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Windows, iOS, or Android. Spike Chunsoft lists those platforms on its official title page. Use the in-game Help and the prompts shown for your version rather than memorizing another platform’s mapping. The Vita walkthrough also warns that online guides can spoil the story, so avoid searching for a specific chapter’s answers if you want to remain unspoiled. GameFAQs: PlayStation Vita walkthrough.

What do I do in a Rebuttal Showdown?
A Rebuttal Showdown is a one-on-one argument challenge, distinct from the standard debate. The other student presents an argument, and you counter it using the actions and Truth Blade interaction prompted by the game. Treat the exchange as its own minigame: attend to the opponent’s words, act on the relevant part of the argument, and use the appropriate counter when the game presents an opening.
Do not rely on button instructions written for a different platform. A Vita walkthrough describes directional slash actions, an overturn action, and firing a Truth Blade, but the input mapping is specific to that version. Check Help or the on-screen instructions for your hardware. Spike Chunsoft confirms that Rebuttal Showdowns are among the trial mechanics, while VIZ’s overview describes Truth Blades as a way to counter arguments.

Why do trials switch to other minigames?
Not every trial segment is a Truth Bullet debate. Class Trials include different minigame patterns, including puzzle-like sequences, and some demand timing or quick reactions. There is no single input strategy that covers every segment; read each prompt, note what the game asks you to target or do, and adjust when the interaction changes. The official description emphasizes multiple minigames, and VIZ’s overview likewise notes puzzle segments alongside Truth Bullet shooting.
How can I make trials easier?
Prepare before proceeding
A PlayStation Vita walkthrough describes a preparation phase in which players can review Truth Bullets, buy or equip skills, change difficulty, or start the trial. If your current version offers these options, use the preparation screen to check what evidence is available and whether the selected settings suit you. The walkthrough recommends considering skills that provide more time, restore the Influence Gauge, or improve shots when the trial is giving you trouble; the exact menu and options may vary by platform.

Use Help instead of guessing controls
When an action is unclear, consult the game’s Help or the current prompt. Trial mechanics change from segment to segment, and a control list for Vita will not reliably explain inputs on another platform.
Retry if you need another attempt
The Vita walkthrough says a trial can be redone from the main menu. Treat that as version-specific guidance and check your own menu if you want to retry. If you do, use the second attempt to slow down, reread the claim, and connect it to the clue that directly addresses it.

How do I avoid spoilers while getting help?
Searches for walkthroughs often expose more than mechanics: a complete guide may include chapter solutions and culprit identities. VIZ cautions readers about online spoilers, and the GameFAQs walkthrough likewise warns that a full walkthrough cannot be entirely spoiler-free. For a first playthrough, use general explanations of controls and trial systems, avoid chapter-specific searches, and stop reading a guide as soon as it moves from mechanics into case answers.
