Daisy Group completed its acquisition of Phoenix IT Group on 17 July 2015, according to MicroScope’s contemporaneous report. MicroScope reported a £135 million deal and said the acquisition would add 3,600 businesses to Daisy’s customer base. Daisy presented the deal as a response to the convergence of unified communications and IT services, and customer demand for a broader range of services from one provider.

When did Daisy complete the Phoenix IT acquisition?

Daisy Group completed the acquisition on 17 July 2015, the date reported by MicroScope. Matthew Riley, Daisy’s founder and executive chairman, also described the acquisition as completed in a LinkedIn post published on 20 July 2015.

How much did Daisy pay, and how many customers were involved?

MicroScope reported the deal value as £135 million and said Phoenix IT would add 3,600 businesses to Daisy’s customer base. These are figures reported by MicroScope in 2015; the available sources do not independently establish the original transaction basis for either figure.

Why did Daisy acquire Phoenix IT?

Daisy’s stated strategic rationale was that unified communications and IT services were converging, while customers and partners wanted a wider set of services from one provider. Riley told MicroScope: “The worlds of Unified Communications and IT Services are rapidly converging and our customers and partners are asking us to provide a broader range of services under one roof.”

In his 20 July 2015 LinkedIn post, Riley said the acquisition was another step toward “creating the first unified business communications and IT infrastructure managed services provider of scale in the UK.” That was Daisy’s stated ambition at the time, not evidence here of a later market position or integration result.

What services did Phoenix IT provide?

Phoenix IT’s company profile describes a UK IT services and consulting business. Its listed specialties include:

  • Cloud and hosting
  • Business continuity
  • Unified communications and contact centres
  • Managed services
  • Security
  • Connectivity, LAN and Wi-Fi
  • Supply chain services

This range helps explain the potential fit with Daisy’s stated plan to combine communications and IT infrastructure services. It does not, by itself, establish which services were integrated after the acquisition.

What did Daisy say about the combined capabilities?

MicroScope quoted Daisy CEO Neil Muller saying the combined capabilities would help the company serve mid-market customers with a broader range of solutions and expertise, with a focus on keeping critical systems “always on.” The statement records the company’s rationale at the time; the cited reporting does not verify subsequent leadership arrangements or integration outcomes.

Does a later Companies House dissolution mean Daisy stopped operating?

No such conclusion follows from the cited record. Companies House lists DAISY IT GROUP LIMITED, company number 03476115, as dissolved on 20 August 2024. The record also includes Phoenix IT Group PLC / Limited among the entity’s previous names. It documents the status of that specific legal entity, not whether the wider Daisy business or successor operations continued under another entity or brand. See the Companies House overview.
