Choose Cyberpunk 2077 for a futuristic-city mercenary story and a spy-thriller expansion; choose The Witcher 3 for dark fantasy, monster hunting, and two major story expansions in its current remastered edition. Neither is an evidence-based universal winner: the better fit depends on the world and protagonist you want, plus your platform and the edition you own.

How the protagonists and settings shape the choice
Pick Cyberpunk 2077 for V’s future-city story
Cyberpunk 2077 centers on V, a hired gun navigating a dangerous city of the future. Its Phantom Liberty expansion takes the story into Dogtown and adds a spy-thriller plot and related activities. The expansion is listed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in the publisher’s launch announcement.
Pick The Witcher 3 for Geralt’s monster-hunting role
The Witcher 3 follows Geralt, a professional monster slayer in a dark-fantasy setting. Its two named expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are included in the publisher-described remastered offer.
