A newly published record describes CVE-2026-105192 as a critical remote-code-execution flaw in LMCache’s multiprocess (distributed) mode. It lists LMCache 0.3.9 and later as affected and does not name a fixed version. Risk depends heavily on whether the ZeroMQ transport is reachable from other hosts: the record says it binds to localhost by default, but operators can configure a routable address.
What CVE-2026-105192 affects
JFrog’s CVE record, published October 7, 2026, assigns the vulnerability a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8, Critical, and lists LMCache versions 0.3.9 and later as affected, with no upper bound. The record does not list a fixed version. That means no fix is reported in that record; it does not establish that a fix is unavailable elsewhere. Check LMCache’s current release notes and security channels before choosing an upgrade target. Read the CVE record.
The issue concerns LMCache multiprocess, also called distributed, mode—not every LMCache deployment by default. LMCache documentation describes a standalone cache service that can serve multiple vLLM pods on a node, with ZMQ or gRPC transports available. See LMCache documentation.
This is not the same issue as CVE-2026-10813, an older low-severity weak-hash issue affecting LMCache through 0.4.6. Its identifier, mechanism, and severity are different. See the separate LMCache advisory.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How the reported flaw can lead to code execution
According to the CVE description, the ZeroMQ ROUTER accepts unauthenticated messages encoded with msgpack. During request-argument decoding, extension code 1 is passed to DeviceIPCWrapper.Deserialize, which calls Python’s pickle.loads before the request handler runs. Because a crafted message can reach that deserialization path, an attacker able to send a message to the transport can cause code to run as the LMCache process user. The CVE description details the mechanism.
The record states: “A single unauthenticated ZMQ DEALER message to the transport port (default 5555) therefore executes code as the user the LMCache process runs as.” The default port alone does not determine exposure: the same record says the transport binds to localhost by default, and that operators can configure a routable address with --host. A localhost-only socket is not ordinarily reachable from a remote network; a routable bind can make it reachable from other hosts if network controls allow traffic.

The CVE description also says official container images run the process as root. Treat that as a claim about those images, not every installation: the impact of successful execution depends on the privileges of the process in the specific deployment.
How to assess your deployment
- Find LMCache versions. Check Python environments and lockfiles, container image tags or digests, and deployed manifests. The record’s affected range is 0.3.9 and later, but it names no fixed version.
- Confirm whether multiprocess mode is enabled. Identify standalone LMCache services and the vLLM configurations that connect to them. The issue described concerns this multiprocess/distributed service path.
- Inspect the actual transport binding. Confirm whether the ZeroMQ service is localhost-only or configured with a routable address using
--host. Verify the effective setting for your installed version and deployment method rather than relying only on a sample configuration. - Check network reachability. Determine which hosts can connect to the transport port, including default port 5555 if unchanged. If cross-host access is required, restrict the path to trusted peers with controls appropriate to your environment while checking vendor guidance; this is a risk-reduction measure, not a mitigation confirmed by the CVE record.
- Verify patch status with LMCache. Consult the project’s current release notes and security channels for a fix and any upgrade instructions. Do not infer a safe version from the affected range alone.
- Consider incident response if exposure and elevated privileges coincide. If a reachable service ran with elevated privileges, assess possible host-level impact under your organization’s response process. The record does not establish that any particular environment has been exploited.
What is known—and not known—about exploitation and fixes
The reviewed CVE record’s KEV field is “No.” That field is not proof that exploitation has never occurred, and the available information does not establish exploitation in the wild. The record also does not list a fixed version. Because the CVE was newly published on October 7, 2026, its details may be updated; use the current record and project guidance when making response decisions.
