Relics can change how a crusade plays; follower forms and skins change how your cult looks. For a broadly useful relic, consider the Seal of the Bishops for a moment of control. For survival, look at Shamura’s Skull or the flock-size-dependent Balm of the Anchorite; choose the Beak of the Fowler if your build spends Fervour, or Clauneck’s Shoe if you collect tarot cards. These are effect-based recommendations, not playtested rankings. Cosmetics are a matter of taste, and paid follower looks do not improve combat.

What is the difference between relics and follower skins?
Relics are crusade items with effects that can help during combat or a run. Follower forms and skins are customization: they change a cult member’s appearance, not the strength of your crusade.
That difference matters when deciding what is “worth using.” A relic is a tactical choice, so its value depends on the threat, your build and its restrictions. A form is an aesthetic or collection choice, so its value depends on whether you like the look or want the associated cosmetic content. There is no reason to buy a skin for combat power.

The Relics of the Old Faith update added 37 relics, relic rooms, Chemach and sermon-based relic upgrades in 2023. The figure means 37 relics were added in that update; it is not the current total. The later Unholy Alliance update added 12 normal relics, eight corrupted relics and five co-op relics. Those are update additions too, not a combined present-day inventory count. The publisher’s patch notes give the historical scope.
Which relic should I take?
Choose around the problem you need to solve, rather than looking for a universal winner. One relic is carried at a time, and the community reference says attacks charge most relics; fragile relics are single-use. That makes immediate effect, charge, repeatability, unlock requirements and room type part of the decision—not just the relic’s headline power.
For a dangerous room: Seal of the Bishops
The Seal of the Bishops briefly freezes time and is listed as available by default. Its appeal is control: a pause can create a window to respond when a room feels overwhelming. It is not evidence of the highest damage, and its usefulness depends on whether that interruption helps with the situation at hand.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor an emergency: Shamura’s Skull
Shamura’s Skull provides a temporary invincibility window, which makes it a defensible survival choice. The base relic is tied to a Bishop follower quest, so it is not necessarily an option at the start. A cleansed version is listed as requiring a later quest; do not assume either version is an early unlock or a guaranteed upgrade for every run.
For a health cushion: Balm of the Anchorite
The community list describes Balm of the Anchorite as granting half a Spirit Heart for every five followers. Its potential therefore scales with flock size, making it more attractive when you have built a larger cult. It is fragile, however, so weigh that one-use limitation against the health it can supply. Blessed and damned variants depend on different follower circumstances; they are conditional alternatives, not automatic improvements.

For Fervour: Beak of the Fowler
Beak of the Fowler refills Fervour and is associated with fishing at Pilgrim’s Passage. That makes it a more natural fit for a curse-focused approach that actually spends Fervour. If your run does not rely on curses, a refill may be less valuable than a defensive or health effect.
For tarot synergy: Clauneck’s Shoe
Clauneck’s Shoe fires projectiles based on the tarot cards you have equipped, so its fit can improve as a run accumulates cards. The community reference describes a fallback effect when no cards are equipped, but the card-linked effect is the central reason to consider it. Think of it as synergy-dependent, not a fixed-strength option.

For clearing ordinary enemies: Narinder’s Claw
Narinder’s Claw kills non-boss enemies, according to the community reference. The boundary is important: it is not described as a boss-killing effect. Its quest requirements also make it a later unlock, so it belongs in a plan for an available run, not an early-game checklist.
For Woolhaven runs
The community relic list includes Snout of the Trapper, which creates damaging, freezing ice spikes, and Husk of the Tundrane, which provides temporary projectile immunity. Treat those descriptions as reference-level information rather than a universal recommendation: the best fit still depends on the encounter and how you value damage, control and safety.
Unholy Alliance also added corrupted relics with trade-offs and co-op relics restricted to co-op drops. Do not treat the co-op additions as routine solo pickups, and do not assume a corrupted effect is a straight upgrade simply because it is newer. Since the pool and unlock circumstances vary, a universal “best relic” list would conceal the conditions that make these items useful.

Are follower skins just cosmetic?
Yes: the follower forms and skins discussed here are appearance rewards, not combat upgrades. The useful question is which visual theme or bundle appeals to you, and whether you want only customization or additional content such as a story quest.

Relics of the Old Faith introduced gameplay forms and special followers, while Sins of the Flesh added free forms and special skins obtainable from golden eggs. The exact free unlocks depend on game content and progression; the important distinction is that buying a cosmetic pack is not required to make a follower stronger.
What does each optional cosmetic pack add?
The packs differ mainly in their art direction and bundle contents. The following descriptions come from the supplied US Nintendo Switch listings and publisher notes; prices and availability can change by storefront, platform and region.
| Pack | What it adds | Who may prefer it |
|---|---|---|
| Cultist | Five exclusive follower forms and seven decorations | Players who like the pack’s look and want a straightforward cosmetic bundle |
| Heretic | Moose, Gorilla, Goldfish, Mosquito and Opossum forms; eight decorations and a cosmetic fleece | Players drawn to its darker-themed aesthetic |
| Sinful | Hammerhead, Ladybug, Tiger, Llama and Sphynx forms; six follower outfits, six decorations and a fleece | Players who value outfit choices alongside new forms |
| Pilgrim | Forms, outfits and decorations, plus an interactive story and unique quest | Players who want narrative content as well as customization |
The Pilgrim form count is not consistent across the supplied references: Nintendo’s current US listing says three new forms, while the publisher’s earlier patch notes list five. Because those sources disagree, this guide does not give a definitive count of what is currently delivered. Check the listing for your platform and region before buying. Cultist pack listing · Heretic pack listing · Sinful pack listing · Pilgrim pack listing.
These US Nintendo Switch product pages are not a reliable guide to what a pack costs on another platform or in another country. Check the store where you play for the current price and included content. If you are choosing on a budget, first see whether the free forms and golden-egg skins already meet your collection goals.

Is Pilgrim worth it if I want more than skins?
It is the pack to consider if the interactive story and unique quest matter to you; the other listed cosmetic packs are described through forms, decorations, outfits or fleece. The Pilgrim story gives it a different kind of value, but a buyer should not treat it as a substitute for a larger gameplay expansion.
The Cult of the Lamb: Pilgrim comic is a separate physical companion featuring Pilgrim characters Jalala and Rinor. It does not unlock digital follower forms. The publisher’s earlier merchandise link is no longer live, and current stock is not established here, so check a bookseller rather than assuming a particular listing or availability.
Does Woolhaven add more than skins?
Yes. Woolhaven is a separately sold expansion with gameplay content, not another interchangeable cosmetic pack. Devolver Digital’s Nintendo description lists two new dungeons, winter and ranching systems, and says the expansion is accessible near completion of the base game.
It was released January 22, 2026. If you mainly want more challenges and systems, that distinction makes Woolhaven more relevant than a form pack; if you only want different follower appearances, do not buy it expecting a cosmetic-only bundle. Its late-base-game access requirement also means it is not the best fit for someone seeking immediate early-game content. Woolhaven’s US Nintendo Switch listing describes the expansion and its access timing.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →How should I decide what is worth using or buying?
- For a crusade, identify the need. If danger is the problem, consider the Seal of the Bishops or Shamura’s Skull; if health is the concern and your flock is large, consider Balm of the Anchorite.
- Check whether your build can use the effect. Beak of the Fowler favors Fervour use; Clauneck’s Shoe rewards tarot-card synergy. A relic that supports a resource you do not use may be a poor fit for that run.
- Read the restrictions before counting on it. Note whether an item is fragile, quest-gated, boss-limited, tied to a follower circumstance or reserved for co-op drops.
- For forms, decide what kind of value you want. Start with free gameplay unlocks if budget matters. Consider a paid pack for its art, collection pieces, outfits or decorations, and Pilgrim if its story quest is part of the appeal.
- For additional play, evaluate Woolhaven separately. It is an expansion with dungeons and new systems, and its content is intended for near the end of the base game—not a cosmetic add-on.
These recommendations compare described effects and bundle contents. The available evidence does not establish a win-rate, damage-per-second ranking or developer-issued best-relic list, so any tier ranking that ignores build, encounter and unlock conditions would claim more certainty than the sources support.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many relics are in Cult of the Lamb now?
The publisher’s figures describe additions, not a current total: 37 were added in the 2023 Relics of the Old Faith update, and Unholy Alliance later added 12 normal, eight corrupted and five co-op relics. Those counts should not be added together and presented as the full current inventory.
How many follower forms does the Pilgrim Pack include?
The supplied references conflict: Nintendo’s US listing says three new forms, while older publisher patch notes say five. Check the current listing for your platform and region; the available information here does not resolve which count reflects the delivered pack.
Does buying the Pilgrim comic unlock Jalala or Rinor as followers?
No. The comic is a separate physical story featuring Jalala and Rinor, not a digital reward or DLC unlock. Its former merchandise link is no longer live, so verify availability with a bookseller.
Can I use co-op relics in a solo run?
The co-op relics described in the Unholy Alliance notes are restricted to co-op drops, so they should not be planned as ordinary solo pickups. For a solo loadout, focus on relics available through solo progression and the run’s own unlocks.
