What changed in CCSK v5?
CSA announced CCSK v5 on July 16, 2024, as a substantial update to v4. The certificate is designed to teach broadly applicable cloud-security knowledge rather than expertise tied to one cloud vendor. CSA calls CCSK “the standard of expertise for cloud security.” See CSA’s CCSK certificate page.
The curriculum is organized into 12 domains and reflects current cloud security practices and components. Topics highlighted by CSA include Zero Trust, DevSecOps, cloud telemetry and security analytics, artificial intelligence, application security, CI/CD, automation, and cloud workloads such as serverless and function-as-a-service (FaaS). What is the CCSK v5 exam?
CSA describes the exam as open-book and online. It consists of 60 randomly selected multiple-choice questions, with 120 minutes to complete it and an 80% minimum passing score. The exam token purchase includes two attempts, which must be used within two years. Check CSA’s current exam details before purchasing.

Do you need experience before taking CCSK?
No official work experience or prior qualification is required. CSA says basic knowledge of firewalls, secure development, encryption, and identity and access management is helpful, so beginners can enroll but may need extra time with those fundamentals. CSA lists the preparation guidance.
How much does CCSK v5 cost?

Is CCSK Plus worth the extra cost?
CCSK Plus is the option to consider if you want applied exercises alongside exam preparation. CSA says students do extensive hands-on activities and “engage in a scenario of bringing a fictional organization securely into the cloud.” This can make concepts more concrete than reading or lecture alone, but the value depends on whether you want guided practice; the available details do not establish a universal price premium or outcome guarantee.
