Public vulnerability records name several different Rittal products, not one flaw affecting every Rittal cooling system. The clearest cooling-specific records concern the Rittal Chiller SK 3232-Series and its Carel pCOWeb interface; other records cover CMC III equipment and an IoT Interface/CMC III Processing Unit. Identify your exact product and firmware before treating any record as applicable.

Which Rittal products are named in vulnerability records?

The records distinguish products and affected software. A vulnerability associated with one device should not be generalized to all Rittal cooling equipment.

Record Product named What the record says
CVE-2019-13549 Rittal Chiller SK 3232-Series web interface using Carel pCOWeb firmware A1.5.3 through B1.2.4 NVD says primary operations, including switching the unit on or off and changing its temperature set point, could be modified without authentication.
CVE-2019-13553 Rittal Chiller SK 3232-Series web interface using Carel pCOWeb firmware A1.5.3 through B1.2.4 NVD assigns this vulnerability a CVSS base score of 9.8, Critical. That rating applies to this record, not every Rittal cooling product.
CVE-2022-40633 Rittal CMC III NVD lists all versions as affected. This is a separate product record; it does not establish that every CMC III installation is a cooling system.
CVE-2024-47943 Rittal IoT Interface / CMC III Processing Unit NVD describes a weakness in checking signed patch files before executing a contained run.sh script and reports a CVSS score of 9.8, Critical. Verify the affected-device details and firmware range in the full record and relevant Rittal advisory.

What is the cooling-specific risk?

For the SK 3232-Series, CVE-2019-13549 is particularly relevant to operations: NVD says the web interface allowed changes to key controls without authentication. If an affected interface is reachable by an unauthorized party, those changes could interfere with unit operation or its temperature set point. The record identifies Carel pCOWeb firmware A1.5.3 through B1.2.4; it does not establish that other firmware or Rittal models share the same issue.

The separate CVE-2019-13553 record also applies to the named chiller interface and firmware range. Its 9.8 Critical score is specific to that CVE and should not be treated as a severity rating for the Rittal product line.

How to determine whether your equipment is affected

  1. Identify the device. Record the product name and article number from the equipment label or documentation. Distinguish an SK 3232-Series chiller from CMC III or an IoT Interface/CMC III Processing Unit.
  2. Check the installed firmware. Use the device’s supported status interface or maintenance documentation to establish the version, including the Carel pCOWeb version where applicable.
  3. Match both details to the vendor advisory. Use Rittal’s PSIRT and product security advisories to find the notice for that exact product and version. NVD records are useful identifiers, but the matching vendor advisory is the place to confirm affected versions and remediation.
  4. Apply only the relevant remediation. Follow the advisory’s fix or workaround for the identified device. Do not assume that an update for one product family corrects a vulnerability in another.

Where to get remediation guidance

Rittal identifies its Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) as the contact for cybersecurity vulnerabilities in its products. Its process describes evaluation of reports, coordination with product teams on fixes or mitigations, and publication of advisories with affected products and versions, workarounds, and fix locations. Direct device-specific questions to the Rittal PSIRT and use its advisory rather than applying generic firmware guidance.

Rittal’s responsible-disclosure policy says it aims to acknowledge vulnerability reports within two working days, excluding weekends and public holidays observed in the state of Hesse, Germany. This is an acknowledgement target, not a stated timeframe for a fix.

Do not confuse unrelated Rittal advisories

Rittal bulletin RITTAL-SA-2026-0008 concerns ReOS1 PDU3 firmware v10.1.2 and recommends v10.1.3 or later for the listed power distribution units. Those are power distribution products, not the cooling system or chiller records discussed above. Its version recommendation should not be applied to an SK 3232-Series chiller, CMC III, or IoT Interface.
