The “under-the-radar AI stock” in this prediction is Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a provider of electronic design automation (EDA) software and semiconductor intellectual property. Its bull case is that AI and increasingly complex systems will increase demand for chip-design tools, purpose-built silicon, and engineering simulation. A multi-year Amazon agreement and Synopsys management’s growth objectives support that case—but neither establishes that SNPS will soar or outperform over the next decade.
Why Synopsys is linked to AI growth
Synopsys is best known for EDA tools used to design and test chips. The investment thesis is broader than selling software to conventional chipmakers: more AI computing and more complex systems could raise demand for purpose-built silicon and for tools that help design and validate whole systems. The company is also expanding application-optimized silicon IP and, through its Ansys integration, engineering simulation and system-level testing capabilities.
At its September 30, 2026 Investor Day, Synopsys President and CEO Sassine Ghazi described the company’s view: “AI is creating multiple, reinforcing growth engines for Synopsys. The acceleration of frontier intelligence is fueling an unprecedented demand for compute power while increasing system complexity. Simultaneously, purpose-built silicon is reshaping the IP market, while Physical AI and agentic workflows are driving deeper integration of our trusted tools. Together, these forces are expanding our addressable market, increasing consumption of our technology, and creating new, recurring revenue streams.” This is management’s account of its opportunity, not independent evidence that demand or revenue will grow at a particular rate. What the Amazon agreement does—and does not—show
On September 30, 2026, Synopsys and Amazon announced a multi-year agreement valued at more than $1 billion. Amazon is the lead customer for expanded application-optimized silicon IP. The collaboration also covers Synopsys EDA, simulation and analysis, AI-powered engineering, and cloud collaboration. Synopsys says it will use AWS services, including EC2 and Bedrock, in its own development work; the companies also plan multiphysics work for Amazon’s Trainium and Graviton chips. The announced value is not the same as $1 billion of immediate revenue: the release describes a multi-year agreement and does not say the full amount will be recognized at once. Amazon SVP Peter DeSantis said, “From Graviton to Trainium, purpose-built chips deliver better performance at lower cost because they’re designed for exactly what customers need.” That is Amazon’s stated rationale for custom chips, not a guarantee that every purpose-built design will outperform alternatives.
What management is targeting through FY2030
At Investor Day, Synopsys set the following FY2026–FY2030 objectives. These are company projections, not achieved results, and the non-GAAP measures are not directly interchangeable with GAAP results.
| Measure | Synopsys objective or outlook | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue growth | Approximately 15% | FY2026–FY2030 objective, announced by Synopsys in 2026 |
| Non-GAAP operating margin | Approximately 50% in FY2030 | Company objective, announced in 2026 |
| Non-GAAP EPS growth | Mid-20% range | FY2026–FY2030 objective, announced in 2026 |
| Free-cash-flow growth | Mid-20% range | FY2026–FY2030 objective, announced in 2026 |
| Revenue | Approximately $11.15 billion | Midpoint of FY2027 guidance range of $11.1 billion to $11.2 billion |
| Free cash flow | Approximately $3.1 billion | FY2027 company target |
Synopsys cautions that it cannot reconcile several FY2028–FY2030 non-GAAP projections to comparable GAAP measures without unreasonable effort, citing variability and limited predictability in excluded adjustments. The company’s release also includes forward-looking-statement qualifications. Investors should treat the targets as management’s plan, not as a promise.
Why a decade-long return cannot be inferred from the targets
Revenue growth, margins, and cash flow can help explain a business outlook, but they do not by themselves determine a stock’s return. The price investors pay, the company’s actual results, and how expectations change all matter. The available figures do not establish the probability that SNPS will outperform over ten years.

Lee Samaha’s October 5, 2026 Motley Fool article reported that Deutsche Bank maintained a buy rating and raised its price target from $590 to $640 after the Investor Day presentation. That is one analyst’s target as reported in the article—not Synopsys guidance or a consensus forecast. Samaha also offered rough 2030 valuation calculations, including price-to-earnings and price-to-free-cash-flow multiples. Those are the contributor’s extrapolations, not company targets. The article’s displayed 2030 EPS figure has an apparent unit inconsistency against the company materials, so it should not be used as a reliable basis for a valuation calculation. Synopsys’ release gives FY2027 non-GAAP EPS guidance of $19.04–$19.12 and says later-year EPS projections cannot be fully reconciled to GAAP without unreasonable effort. What could derail the bull case
- Adoption may disappoint. Growth depends partly on new markets and technologies being adopted; the Motley Fool article acknowledges that adoption may not proceed as smoothly as management expects.
- Execution matters. The thesis assumes Synopsys can deliver its targets while integrating and expanding its engineering capabilities, including those associated with Ansys.
- Customer agreements are not the same as realized growth. A multi-year contract can support visibility, but the announced value does not establish timing, margins, or the amount recognized as revenue in any particular period.
- Stock performance is not guaranteed by business growth. Even if the business expands, the share price can disappoint if results fall short of expectations or the valuation changes.
How to assess the prediction
Synopsys is a plausible AI-related company to evaluate because its tools and IP sit in the design and validation process for increasingly complex silicon and systems. The Amazon collaboration is a concrete example of customer engagement, while management’s FY2026–FY2030 objectives set out the company’s own expectations. But the claim that SNPS will “soar” over the next decade remains an opinion: the cited announcements and targets do not establish future share returns. A decision should turn on whether an investor considers the company’s execution and adoption prospects sufficient for the price being paid, not on the headline prediction alone.
