Cosmi: Forbidden Forest & Beyond is a ten-game collection of classic Cosmi Commodore 64 titles, not just a remake of Forbidden Forest. It pairs the original games with a new medieval-styled remake of Forbidden Forest, digital comics, save states and rewind, and a gallery of archival material. Steam currently lists the game as “Coming soon”; a Nintendo Switch version has been reported in development, but no release date or window has been announced.

Which games are included?

Ziggurat Interactive lists these ten games in the collection:

  1. Forbidden Forest
  2. Beyond the Forbidden Forest
  3. Aztec Challenge
  4. Caverns of Khafka
  5. Seal
  6. Delta Man
  7. Chomp!
  8. Chernobyl: Nuclear Power Plant Simulation
  9. Spite & Malice
  10. Navcom 6: The Persian Gulf Defense

The publisher describes the lineup as a mix of shooters, platformers, adventure games, and simulation. The titles were originally associated with Cosmi and the Commodore 64. Ziggurat’s product page gives June 1, 1983 as the collection’s initial release date; that is a page-level date and should not be read as the original release date for every game in the package. What does the Forbidden Forest remake add?

The compilation includes a medieval-styled remake of Forbidden Forest with new graphics and audio. Ziggurat says players can switch between the remake and the original version in real time, so the collection offers both versions rather than replacing the original outright.

The publisher also calls out master game designer Paul Norman. Its product page does not provide detailed credits for each game, so that credit should not be extended to the entire collection without further confirmation. Ziggurat Interactive’s product page

What extras and convenience features are included?

  • Digital comics: New comic stories by Andy Lanning and Ant Williams of Ideas&Inks.
  • Save states and rewind: Features powered by the Arsenal Engine, for saving progress and revisiting recent gameplay.
  • Digital gallery: Development artifacts and advertisements provide archival context for the games.

The publisher also lists remade box art among the collection’s additions. These are digital extras; the published descriptions do not establish a physical boxed edition or printed comic. Ziggurat Interactive’s product page
