The Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO is a wired, open-back gaming headset best suited to a quiet desk setup where airflow and awareness of your surroundings matter more than blocking outside noise. Its boom mic detaches with its cable, and a second cable lets you use a separate microphone. The trade-off is that this analog headset offers no wireless convenience or sound isolation.
What is the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO?
It is a wired, over-ear headset built around 50 mm graphene drivers and a 3.5 mm analog connection. CORSAIR positions it for gaming, streaming, and content creation. Unlike a wireless headset, it has no battery requirement; the product guide describes analog connectivity rather than onboard digital sound processing or iCUE tuning.
CORSAIR lists a 20 Hz–40 kHz headphone frequency response, 32-ohm impedance at 1 kHz, and a weight of 338 g. These specifications describe the product, but do not alone establish how it will sound or feel to a particular listener. See the CORSAIR product guide for its specifications and setup details.
Is the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO open-back?
Yes. Its open-back earcups let air move through the cups and make it easier to hear the room around you than with a closed-back design. The same openness means ambient noise can reach you, and audio from the headset can be audible to people nearby. It is a poor fit for noisy commutes, shared quiet spaces, or situations where you need to keep sound contained. CORSAIR explains the design in its guide to the VIRTUOSO PRO.

Is the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO good for gaming?
It can suit gaming at a desk if you want an open presentation and do not need isolation. SoundGuys characterizes its tuning as bass-emphasized, which may add weight to games but may not suit listeners seeking a more neutral presentation for audio work. That is the outlet’s assessment, not a universal measurement or guarantee of how it will sound on every source.
For competitive play, consider whether hearing environmental sound is a benefit or a distraction in your room. An open-back headset cannot shut out nearby conversation, fans, or other noise. If containment and focus matter more, a closed-back model may be a better match.

Does the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO have a detachable mic?
Yes. The unidirectional boom microphone is attached to its cable and can be removed. CORSAIR includes a second cable without the mic, intended for use with a separate microphone. The product guide lists a microphone frequency response of 100 Hz–10 kHz and impedance of 2.2 kΩ.
Reviewer impressions vary by evaluation: RTINGS reports clear voice reproduction, but also notes audible background-noise pickup and a hiss noise floor. SoundGuys describes the microphone as excellent for gaming and calls. Treat these as those publications’ findings rather than a promise that it will perform identically in every room or setup.

Can I use the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO on PS5 or PC?
It connects over 3.5 mm analog audio, so compatibility depends on the device’s jack and how it handles headphone and microphone signals. CORSAIR includes a Y-splitter for setups with separate headphone and microphone connections; the guide also notes that the headset cable is keyed to fit the earcups in one orientation and that the mic must be connected on the left side.
Check your computer, controller, or other source for the appropriate jack configuration before buying. A 3.5 mm connector alone does not guarantee that a particular device will support both headphone playback and microphone input through the same connection. CORSAIR also says the headset works with Elgato Wave Link software for streaming configurations; that does not make the headset itself a USB or wireless device.

What do reviewers say about comfort and build?
Tom’s Hardware describes the construction as more plastic-heavy in appearance than earlier VIRTUOSO models. That is the reviewer’s aesthetic observation, not a durability test. The headset weighs 338 g according to CORSAIR, so fit and perceived weight are worth considering if you plan to wear it for long sessions. Comfort is individual, and the available reviewer observations do not establish a fit that will work for everyone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Corsair VIRTUOSO PRO worth it?
It makes the most sense for someone who specifically wants a wired open-back headset, values room awareness, and may switch between its cable-mounted boom mic and a separate microphone. It is less compelling if your priorities are wireless mobility, blocking outside noise, or a contained listening experience.

Tom’s Hardware listed a $199.99 price in its 2023 review, which also gives September 19, 2023 as the release date. That is historical review-era pricing, not a verified current price. CORSAIR’s launch announcement directs buyers to its site for current pricing. Check the listing and local warranty terms before purchase; CORSAIR’s launch release and product guide state a two-year warranty, but regional terms may differ.
For alternatives, RTINGS compares it with the Drop + EPOS PC38X and Turtle Beach Atlas Air. Their strengths differ across comfort, microphone performance, wireless connectivity, and software, so compare the feature that matters most in your setup rather than treating one model as an automatic upgrade.
