There is no verified universal best build for CONTROL Resonant. Remedy’s combat design supports both heavy close-range pressure and more tactical play built around abilities such as Mold Turrets. The right starting setup depends on how you like to fight, which abilities you have unlocked, and whether you want to stay in melee or control the field from a little farther away.
How combat abilities fit into a build
Dylan Faden’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant, is the center of combat. Supernatural combat abilities and Talents shape how you use it, while Resonant encounters are a key source of new abilities. Remedy describes a loop in which melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities stun enemies and create openings for executions, and executions temporarily increase melee damage. That design rewards combining melee pressure with abilities rather than treating them as separate systems. Remedy’s gameplay overview
Remedy also points to different supported approaches, including heavy close-range combat and tactical play with summons such as Mold Turrets. The recommendations below are starting points based on those playstyles—not tested optimal loadouts or ranked builds.
Build for deliberate, heavy melee pressure
Who should try it
Choose this approach if you like committing to close range, landing deliberate hits, and turning enemy openings into executions. Start with a heavier-feeling Aberrant form that suits your timing, then look for Talents and passive effects that reinforce the damage or stagger you want from the melee-to-Falter-to-execution loop.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How to develop it
- Pick the melee form that feels dependable to you; do not assume a particular weapon form is best for every player.
- Use combat abilities to stun or otherwise open enemies, then take advantage of execution opportunities.
- As you unlock Talents and passive effects, favor those that support your preferred mix of melee damage, stagger, and ability use.
A TechRadar reviewer described switching from an initial spear choice to a hammer that better suited their approach, and said a later flame weapon ability increased damage and Falter output. That is one reviewer’s experience, not evidence that hammer or flame is objectively stronger. TechRadar’s review
Build for tactical ability support
Who should try it
This approach fits players who would rather influence the encounter with abilities and summons than rely on uninterrupted melee pressure. Remedy specifically cites tactical play with Mold Turrets as one supported style. Pair a comfortable Aberrant form with the summon or control abilities you have unlocked, then look for Talents and Artifacts that support the way you want to manage Combat Ability resource.

How to develop it
- Choose a melee form you can use reliably; the tactical focus does not remove melee from the combat loop.
- Use available summons or other control abilities to create openings or manage the field.
- Build around your actual unlocks. A summon-focused setup depends on having the relevant ability, and the available evidence does not establish an exact unlock order or a fixed launch combination.
Because melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, even an ability-forward approach has a reason to keep attacking at close range. Decide how much melee you want to mix in rather than expecting abilities alone to define the whole encounter. Remedy’s gameplay overview

Plan around first-run unlocks
Resonants are major boss encounters integrated into story progression. Remedy says defeating one grants its unique ability, and some encounters offer branching choices that push Dylan toward distinct playstyles. Remedy also says a first playthrough will not unlock everything, so treat a branch as a tradeoff: choose what suits your current approach rather than building around abilities you may not obtain on that run. What changes in New Game Plus
Remedy says New Game Plus carries forward Aberrant upgrades, health and Combat Ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, Talents, and Artifacts. Traversal abilities remain tied to story progression. New Game Plus also allows multiple different combat abilities from the same boss to be equipped and opens a fourth Artifact slot; the first-playthrough limit is three. These options make it easier to combine approaches, but they do not establish one optimal combination. Remedy’s New Game Plus explanation
