The update expands an existing Windows monitoring tool that already offers a live connection map, activity timeline, bandwidth details, alerts, and process blocking.
What Connection Explorer 1.2 adds
Stardock announced Connection Explorer 1.20 on August 19, 2026. The main change is multi-device monitoring: PCs on a local network can be paired so their connection activity appears in a combined map, with connection details and alerts available across linked devices. The release describes a guided three-step setup using Local Group pairing.
The update also adds a Visualizations panel with four views. Each answers a different question about network activity rather than presenting the same data in a different style.

The 1.20 release also describes an optional daily event log intended for AI-assisted anomaly review. Its availability is subject to the user’s existing retention setting; the announcement does not establish that the feature independently diagnoses or verifies a security threat.

How multi-device monitoring works
Once PCs are paired through the guided setup, Connection Explorer can display their activity together rather than requiring a separate map for each computer. This is useful when you want to compare or review activity across several PCs on the same local network. The release notes also say alerts can be viewed across paired devices.
This is a combined monitoring view, not evidence that the software monitors every device on a network automatically. The announcement describes linking PCs through Local Group pairing; it does not say that phones, routers, or non-Windows devices can be added.

What the update builds on
Connection Explorer already combined process identity with network activity. Stardock’s April 14, 2026 product announcement and its documentation describe an activity timeline, per-application bandwidth monitoring, active-connection views, a map, alerts, connection history, DNS notes, ping, and one-click blocking of problematic processes.
That context matters: the new visualizations extend an interface designed to connect an application or process with its destinations and bandwidth, rather than replacing the underlying connection-monitoring workflow. Process blocking is a response control; the map and visualizations are ways to inspect activity.

Who is likely to benefit
- People managing multiple Windows PCs at home: the combined view can make it easier to inspect activity across linked computers.
- Privacy-conscious users: the app, service, destination, country, and bandwidth context can be more understandable than a list of addresses and ports alone.
- Users investigating a specific app: Connection Flow and App Fingerprint offer ways to examine destinations and compare a pattern with an application’s typical behavior.
- Technical administrators: the visual layer may help with quick inspection, but the announcement does not establish that Connection Explorer replaces dedicated enterprise network-monitoring or security tools.
How to get version 1.20
Stardock says the update is available through Connection Explorer or from the user’s Stardock account. Check either route for the current update and setup instructions. Availability and product terms can change; the August 19, 2026 announcement does not state current standalone pricing or supported Windows versions.
BetaNews reported Windows 11 availability and Object Desktop access at $40 per year during the earlier beta period in December 2025. That is historical pricing, not confirmation of today’s price or bundle terms. Check Stardock’s current account or product listing before purchasing.

What to keep in mind when reading the visualizations
- A destination country gives geographic context, but it does not by itself identify the person or organization receiving the data.
- An unusual pattern is a reason to investigate, not proof that an application is malicious. App Fingerprint describes typical behavior; the update announcement does not claim that it certifies an app as safe.
- Multi-device visibility depends on pairing the PCs. The release describes local-network pairing rather than automatic discovery of all devices.
Stardock’s framing is consistent with the product’s goal: General Manager Brad Sams said at launch in November 2025 that the aim was to let users see what their highly connected desktops are doing. Version 1.20 makes that activity easier to examine across linked PCs and from several visual angles.
