Digestive symptoms—especially nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation—are among the common side effects listed for Ozempic (semaglutide injection). The exact effects and their frequency depend on the medicine, formulation, dose, indication, and country. Severe or persistent symptoms, difficulty keeping fluids down, or warning signs such as breathing trouble or persistent abdominal pain need prompt medical attention.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Use the patient leaflet supplied with your medicine and ask your prescriber or pharmacist how to interpret symptoms in your situation.
What side effects are common with GLP-1 medicines?
Side effects vary among GLP-1 medicines and their approved uses, so a list or frequency for one product should not be treated as a class-wide estimate. In U.S. FDA labeling revised in January 2025, the most common adverse reactions reported in at least 5% of patients treated with Ozempic (semaglutide injection) are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation. Read the FDA Ozempic prescribing information.
MedlinePlus patient information for semaglutide injection also lists heartburn, burping, headache, and upper-respiratory symptoms among possible effects. That page does not say these effects occur as often as the FDA-listed Ozempic reactions, and its list should not be assumed to apply unchanged to every GLP-1 medicine. Read MedlinePlus information on semaglutide injection.

Is nausea normal on a GLP-1?
Nausea is a recognized common adverse reaction with Ozempic, but that does not mean every episode is harmless or that the same frequency applies to all GLP-1 products. Tell your prescriber if nausea is severe, persists, or makes it difficult to drink enough fluids.
When should I call my doctor about vomiting or stomach pain?
Contact your prescriber promptly about vomiting or diarrhea that is severe, persistent, or interfering with drinking fluids. Fluid loss can lead to volume depletion, and FDA Ozempic labeling warns of acute kidney injury due to volume depletion. Do not change your dose or stop treatment without medical guidance; follow the instructions for your specific medicine.

Persistent pain in the upper-left or middle abdomen, particularly if it may spread to the back and occurs with or without vomiting, is a warning sign in semaglutide patient information. Contact a clinician promptly. FDA labeling for Ozempic also warns about pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal adverse reactions, and acute gallbladder disease; a clinician can assess the cause of symptoms.

Which symptoms mean I need urgent help?
Get emergency medical help for difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, or throat. These can be signs of a serious allergic reaction. MedlinePlus also identifies rash, itching, fainting, or dizziness among possible serious reaction symptoms; seek urgent clinical advice if they occur.

What should I tell my clinician before surgery or a procedure?
Tell clinicians involved in planned surgery or procedures that you use a GLP-1 medicine. FDA Ozempic labeling notes reports of aspiration during general anesthesia or deep sedation, so the procedural team needs to know about your treatment.

Is compounded semaglutide different from an FDA-approved product?
Compounded products have a separate dosing-safety concern. FDA says unapproved compounded drugs are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness, and quality before marketing. It has described dosing errors with compounded injectable semaglutide, including cases where patients sought medical attention or required hospitalization. Different product concentrations and measuring doses in “units” rather than milligrams or milliliters can cause confusion.

- Spring Assisted Open Design. We use the latest design on this weekly pill organizer to achieve one-handed operation with the little rubber strips for the smart "lid spring open" feature. The lids are all beautifully colored and marked clearly with the date, everything is clear at a glance so you may find it easy to choose the pills you need. It's quite nice for easy daily dispensing and big enough to hold 8 fish oils or 12 large vitamins for each dose (size of each compartment: 1.3"x1.18"x0.82")
- Say Goodbye to Dumpage Pills. No worries about unwanted dumpage of pills found by pets and kids for your slightest unintentional or incidental touch on the medicine organizer. The push button stays closed once locked and securely snap shut keeping pills safe. It's small and perfectly suitable for travel and is ideal for storing small jewelry or items such as earrings, beads, nail art tips, ect.
- Premium Screen Printing. To avoid screen-printing fonts and icons falling off from the surface of the pill box, we use high-end screen printing ink and strictly do the Ink Adhesion Test with 3M Tapes before shipment. Thus, no need to be frustrated with the missing fonts of "Tuesday" or icons of "PM", and worry about mistakenly taking the wrong tablets.
- BPA-Free Material. This pill case is pretty safe because of being made of food grade materials. You would be worry-free with the BPA-free pill boxes and organizer when storing multiple pill regimes inside. With the transparent plastic lid, it's quite easy to distinguish the pills in each dose without opening the lids.
- What You Receive: 1 x AUVON iMedassist Pill Holder, our 12-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
If you use a compounded injectable product, confirm the exact dose and measuring instructions with the prescriber or dispensing pharmacy before using it. FDA says compounded drugs should only be used when a patient’s medical needs cannot be met by an FDA-approved drug. See FDA information on concerns with unapproved GLP-1 drugs.
As of May 31, 2026, FDA reported 990 adverse-event reports associated with compounded semaglutide and more than 730 associated with compounded tirzepatide. These are report counts, not rates of harm or proof that the medicines caused each event; FDA says causality is not always determinable and reporting may be incomplete.
What about mood changes?
In January 2026, FDA said its review found no increased risk of suicidal ideation or behavior with the GLP-1 receptor agonists it reviewed and requested removal of that warning from labeling for Saxenda, Wegovy, and Zepbound. That update is specific to the affected products; check the current label for your medicine. Discuss concerning mood symptoms with your clinician rather than ignoring them. Read the FDA safety communication.
