Perplexity has launched Comet for Android and says it redesigned the browser for mobile, with an assistant built into the browsing experience. The official Google Play listing offers the app for installation.
What Comet for Android is
Perplexity announced the Android launch with the statement, “Today we are launching Comet for Android.” The company says it did not want to force a desktop experience onto phones and redesigned the mobile browser for what it describes as the age of AI. Its Comet product page also lists Android alongside Mac, Windows, and iOS.
Google Play describes Comet as “the first agentic AI browser built for mobile.” That is Perplexity’s positioning in its store copy, not an independently verified industry-first finding.
What Perplexity says you can do with it
Ask an assistant while browsing
Perplexity describes an assistant that is one tap away in the browsing context, for follow-up questions and assigned tasks. The Play listing says users can see what actions the assistant is taking and step in. These are vendor descriptions; they do not establish that every task will succeed.
