Short answer: Cloudinary can capture webpages through its URL2PNG add-on, which suits teams that already use Cloudinary and want screenshots in its media pipeline. Urlbox is the more direct choice when you need a dedicated page-capture API with documented full-page and element captures and several output types. Neither vendor’s documentation establishes a universal winner for speed, accuracy, or reliability. If you want another option to try first, ScreenshotNeo combines clean screenshots, billing only for clean shots, and a dedicated screenshot API.

How Cloudinary URL2PNG and Urlbox differ

Cloudinary’s URL2PNG is an add-on that renders a public webpage as an image through a Cloudinary delivery URL. Cloudinary caches and delivers the generated screenshot, and its image transformations can be applied to that output. Using it requires a Cloudinary account and registration for the add-on. By default, delivery URLs using the add-on must be signed or eagerly generated unless the account enables unsigned add-on transformations. Cloudinary’s URL2PNG documentation describes viewport, user-agent, delay, and full-page options.

Urlbox presents itself as a dedicated API for rendering URLs and HTML. Its documentation describes image, PDF, video, and data-oriented outputs, render links, and synchronous or asynchronous JSON API requests. The practical distinction is integration: URL2PNG extends Cloudinary’s media workflow, while Urlbox is designed around page rendering. Urlbox overview and its screenshot API product page list its documented capabilities.

Do not mistake Cloudinary Fetch for webpage capture

Cloudinary’s fetch delivery type retrieves existing remote image or video files for transformation and CDN delivery; it does not render a webpage into a screenshot. For the latter, the relevant feature is URL2PNG. Cloudinary’s remote media documentation explains Fetch.

Choose based on integration and capture requirements

Choose Cloudinary URL2PNG when Cloudinary is already central

URL2PNG is a reasonable fit if your team already relies on Cloudinary and wants generated screenshots cached, delivered, and further transformed through the same media service. Account setup and the add-on’s URL-generation rules are part of that choice; it is not simply the same as fetching a remote image.

Choose Urlbox when rendering is the primary job

Urlbox’s documentation covers a wider capture workflow, including element-specific screenshots and multiple output categories. That makes it a more direct starting point when you are building a capture service rather than adding rendered screenshots to an existing Cloudinary pipeline. The documentation alone does not prove it will perform better on your pages.

Run a representative evaluation before committing

Neither vendor’s documentation establishes a universal speed, accuracy, or reliability advantage. Test pages representative of your own workload, especially pages with JavaScript, lazy-loaded content, sticky headers, cookie prompts, or bot defenses. Compare:

  • Whether the expected page content appears and the screenshot matches your needs.
  • Success rate and capture latency across repeated runs.
  • Cost at your expected volume and the plan’s feature limits.
  • Integration effort, including URL signing, request patterns, and output handling.
  • How the workflow handles sensitive page content and access credentials.

Urlbox full-page capture: stitch or native

Urlbox documents two full-page approaches. Its default stitch mode scrolls through the page, can trigger animations and lazy-loaded content, attempts to handle fixed and sticky elements, and combines sections. Urlbox describes this mode as optimized for accuracy. The native mode uses browser screenshot behavior and is described as faster, but less reliable on some sites. These are vendor descriptions, not independent test results. Urlbox’s screenshot documentation explains the modes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stitch mode has practical edge cases: scroll increments and delays can be adjusted for content that appears during scrolling, and infinite-scroll pages may be capped at three sections by default to avoid an endless capture. A full-page capture can therefore differ by page behavior; validate the output rather than assuming every site will render perfectly.

Pricing and plan limits to verify

On Urlbox’s official pricing page as observed on October 3, 2026, the listed plans included Lo-Fi at $19/month for up to 2,000 renders, Hi-Fi at $49/month for up to 5,000, Ultra at $99/month for up to 15,000, Business at $498/month (described as a $495 base plus $3 per 1,000 renders), and Enterprise from $3,000/month. These are vendor-listed prices observed on that date, not a guarantee of current pricing; the feature matrix varies by tier, so check the live page and billing terms before choosing. The Cloudinary URL2PNG documentation reviewed does not provide a comparable price. See Urlbox pricing.
