The available reporting does not establish that the Victoria’s Secret incident was ransomware or involved data theft.
Was the Cloudflare outage caused by a cyberattack?
No. Cloudflare said its June 12, 2025 outage was not an attack or another security event, and that no data was lost. Its postmortem traced the failure to the storage infrastructure underlying Workers KV, part of which depended on a third-party cloud provider that experienced an outage. Workers KV supports configuration, authentication, and asset delivery for several Cloudflare services. Cloudflare’s postmortem attributed the incident to a dependency failure and accepted responsibility for its architecture and dependency choices.
Cloudflare reported that the disruption lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes and affected customers globally who relied on the affected services. It named Workers KV, WARP, Access, Gateway, Images, Stream, Workers AI, Turnstile and Challenges, AutoRAG, Zaraz, and parts of the Cloudflare Dashboard. The company said Magic Transit, Magic WAN, DNS, cache, proxy, and WAF were not directly affected; this was not a failure of every Cloudflare service or of the whole internet.
“We’re deeply sorry for this outage: this was a failure on our part, and while the proximate cause (or trigger) for this outage was a third-party vendor failure, we are ultimately responsible for our chosen dependencies and how we choose to architect around them.”

How many Cracked.io users did Dutch police identify?
Dutch police said the Zeeland-West-Brabant Cybercrime Team identified 126 people in the Netherlands who used Cracked.io. The Dutch Police described the site as a forum where cybercrime-related topics were discussed and data and tools associated with hacking, cracking, and other cybercrime were traded. These are the police’s characterization of the platform and its investigation, not a finding that every identified user committed or was convicted of a crime. The announcement, titled in translation “Police identify users on international suspect cyber platform,” is available from Dutch Police.
Police reported that the identified users had an average age of 20 and that the youngest was 11. Many received a personal letter and/or email; investigators held about 20 stop-conversations, and eight case files were to be transferred to the Public Prosecution Service for a decision. Police also said some people identified had already been convicted or were involved in ongoing investigations, and that the inquiry continued. Identification, a police intervention, an ongoing investigation, and conviction are distinct procedural statuses.

What happened in the Victoria’s Secret security incident?
On May 28, 2025, Victoria’s Secret took its website and some in-store services offline as a precaution after identifying a security incident. Its physical stores remained open, and the company said it was working to restore operations. A contemporaneous SecurityWeek report reproduced the company’s customer notice:
“We identified and are taking steps to address a security incident. We have taken down our website and some in store services as a precaution. Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations.”

That report said the incident type was unclear at the time. The cited reporting does not establish that it was ransomware or that customer or other data was stolen, so neither should be treated as confirmed.

How much did the Victoria’s Secret incident cost?
Retail Dive reported on June 11, 2025, that CFO Scott Sekella told analysts the incident was expected to reduce second-quarter operating income by about $10 million, excluding any insurance payment. This is a forecasted impact on operating income, not a confirmed total cost or final realized loss. The report is available from Retail Dive.
