No—not according to Anthropic’s latest reviewed announcement. On September 28, 2026, Anthropic said Haiku 5.5 would join the Claude 5.5 family “in the coming weeks.” The announcement described it as intended for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications, but did not give a release date, price, model ID, or performance results. The claim that it has launched at a much lower price is therefore not confirmed by the official information available as of October 7, 2026.
Has Claude Haiku 5.5 launched?
Anthropic’s September 28 announcement of Sonnet 5.5 described Haiku 5.5 as forthcoming, not available: it said the model “will join the Claude 5.5 family in the coming weeks.” The announcement does not establish that the release happened after it was published. Anthropic’s Sonnet 5.5 announcement is the latest reviewed release-specific source for Haiku 5.5.
Anthropic had also described Haiku 5.5 as upcoming in its September 22 announcement of Opus 5.5. That earlier announcement provides family context, but does not confirm a subsequent launch or pricing. Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 announcement called Opus the first Claude 5.5 family model and said Sonnet and Haiku would follow.
What is known about Haiku 5.5’s price?
Anthropic had not published a Haiku 5.5 price in the official materials reviewed as of October 7, 2026. That means there is no supported figure for how much it costs, or evidence to verify that it is “much lower” than Haiku 4.5. The announcement’s description of Haiku 5.5 as cost-sensitive is positioning, not a price or a claim about savings.

For comparison only, Anthropic currently lists Haiku 4.5 at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. Those are Haiku 4.5 rates, not Haiku 5.5 pricing. Anthropic’s pricing documentation also notes that regional and multi-region cloud endpoints can cost more than global endpoints for the models and platforms covered by that documentation; it does not establish Haiku 5.5 rates. See the Claude pricing documentation and model overview.
What is confirmed about Haiku 4.5?
Anthropic’s model overview, accessed October 7, 2026, lists Haiku 4.5—not Haiku 5.5—as its Haiku model. The Haiku 4.5 model page identifies the model as claude-haiku-4-5-20251001, gives an October 15, 2025 release date, and lists a 200K-token context window and 64K maximum output. It names API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud, Microsoft Foundry, and Claude Platform on AWS as access channels. These specifications and availability details apply to Haiku 4.5 only; they should not be assumed for Haiku 5.5. See Anthropic’s model overview and the Haiku model page.

What to verify before switching to Haiku 5.5
When Anthropic publishes model-specific details, developers evaluating a move from Haiku 4.5 should check the full cost and operational fit rather than infer savings from the model’s positioning.
- Token prices: Compare input, output, cache-write, and cache-read rates on the same billing route and in the same geography.
- Performance: Look for named evaluations and results relevant to your own tasks. Keep Anthropic’s claims distinct from independent testing.
- Latency and throughput: Measure performance against your workload’s task mix and volume.
- Limits and controls: Confirm the context window, maximum output, thinking options, and whether the model is offered under a fixed snapshot or a changing alias.
- Availability: Check whether Haiku 5.5 is offered through the API and each cloud platform you use, as well as any endpoint-specific price differences.
Until those details are published, Haiku 4.5’s specifications and price provide a baseline for that model—not a basis for predicting Haiku 5.5’s cost, capabilities, or availability.
