There is no verified, apples-to-apples test showing that Claude Code, Codex, or Google Antigravity is “in a different league” at building a note-taking app. The title’s specific first-person experiment is not corroborated by the available reporting, so a universal winner would be misleading. The products do offer distinct workflows: Claude Code emphasizes codebase work and configurable terminal and IDE use; Codex highlights parallel agents and cloud tasks; Antigravity IDE brings agents into an editor, terminal, and browser workflow. Which feels strongest depends on the app, the setup, and how much control you want.
Was there a verified test building this note-taking app?
The available sources do not independently confirm a first-person test in which the author built a dream note-taking app with all three tools and found one decisively superior. Amanda Caswell’s May 17, 2026 Tom’s Guide comparison covers Claude Code and Codex on a subscription tracker, grocery-price comparison tool, and financing calculator—not Antigravity or a note-taking app. Read the Tom’s Guide comparison.
A separate May 2026 MeriStation report summarizes XDA journalist Parth Shah’s month-long comparison of all three on tasks including debugging inherited scripts and creating a personal website. It says Shah favored Antigravity for combining autonomous agents with an IDE and direct manual control, while also noting performance and stability concerns. That is one reviewer’s subjective conclusion relayed by another publication, not a controlled benchmark of note-taking apps. Read MeriStation’s account.
What each tool brings to the workflow
Official product descriptions are useful for understanding how the tools are designed to work, but they do not establish which one produces the best app. The descriptions below reflect the vendors’ documentation, not a comparative quality score.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Tool | Documented workflow | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Anthropic documents natural-language feature requests and bug fixes across files, Git operations and pull requests, MCP integrations, project instructions in CLAUDE.md, skills and hooks, parallel agents, and CLI automation. It can be used through terminal, IDE, desktop, and web surfaces. |
Offers several ways to fit codebase work into an existing development workflow. Anthropic notes that some handoffs require a claude.ai subscription. |
| Codex | OpenAI describes parallel agents, browser and computer tools for verification, cloud environments that can continue running tasks, and code review. It is available through ChatGPT, editors, and terminal. | Emphasizes delegating work to agents and letting cloud tasks continue asynchronously. OpenAI’s page listed Codex usage with ChatGPT Plus and showed $20/month for Plus when accessed on October 4, 2026; check the current plan and limits before deciding. |
| Google Antigravity IDE | Google documents agents working across the editor, terminal, and browser; asynchronous and parallel agents; browser actuation for UI testing; and artifacts including plans, diffs, diagrams, images, and browser recordings. | Combines agent work with an IDE where a developer can inspect outputs and intervene. Google says Antigravity IDE is not supported for enterprise customers and directs enterprise users to Antigravity 2.0 or CLI. |

Why one tool may feel like it is in a different league
A note-taking app is more than a screen that accepts text. A useful build might need reliable saving, sensible organization, search, editing, and a design that works across screen sizes. An agent that quickly produces an attractive interface may still need substantial repair if notes disappear on refresh or core interactions fail. Another may make fewer visual leaps but offer a smoother path to inspecting and correcting its work.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
That is why workflow preferences can shape a verdict as much as raw output. A developer who wants an agent to handle codebase tasks through a CLI may value a different strength than someone who wants to inspect browser behavior inside an IDE or delegate longer-running work. A “different league” result can describe a particular person’s experience with a particular prompt and setup; without shared test conditions, it does not establish that the same tool will win for everyone.
How to compare them fairly for your own app
If you want to choose an agent for a note-taking app, give each the same starting point and evaluate the finished experience rather than relying on a single impressive screen.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Use the same brief and starting conditions. Specify the same features, design direction, data-storage expectations, and project scaffold. Record each tool’s model and version, settings, and any integrations enabled.
- Set a consistent intervention budget. Track elapsed time, how often you had to clarify or take over, and how much code you repaired. A result reached with repeated developer intervention is different from one produced autonomously.
- Test the app’s essentials. Create, edit, organize, search, and delete notes; reload or reopen the app to check whether data persists as expected. Check accessibility and behavior at relevant screen sizes, not just the first-run view.
- Inspect verification and repair work. Note whether the tool helps you test the UI, understand its changes, and catch defects. Record what still fails and how difficult it is to fix.
- Choose against your own priorities. Compare functional correctness, persistence, design quality, verification, setup friction, oversight, and repair effort. Weight the factors that matter for your app instead of treating speed or polish as a complete score.
What other comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
In Caswell’s Tom’s Guide test, Claude Code was reported as the winner for the subscription tracker, while Codex won the grocery-price comparison and financing-calculator tasks. The article named Codex its overall winner but qualified that conclusion by user preference and desired depth. Those results apply to that writer’s prompts and setup; they do not predict which tool will build a better note-taking app.
Shah’s reported preference for Antigravity came from a different month-long trial, with different tasks and criteria. The two accounts are not competing measurements of one shared benchmark. Taken together, they show why a task-specific verdict is more useful than an unqualified ranking.
