Cisco announced its Silicon One G300 switching chip and new G300-based N9000 and Cisco 8000 systems on February 10, 2026, positioning them as infrastructure for AI training, inference and real-time agentic workloads. The announcement is about networking that carries AI traffic—not AI agents running inside the switch. Cisco’s performance and efficiency figures are company-reported, not independently verified.
What Cisco announced
The centerpiece is the Silicon One G300, a switching ASIC Cisco rates at 102.4 Tbps. Cisco also announced G300-powered N9000 and Cisco 8000 systems, high-density optics and enhancements to Nexus One, its management plane for on-premises and cloud-based data center deployments. Cisco identifies hyperscalers, neoclouds, sovereign cloud deployments, service providers and enterprises as intended customers.
The N9000 product brief describes more than one design path. G300-based N9300 systems are aimed at AI networking, while N9100 systems using NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet switch silicon are described for NVIDIA Cloud Partner reference-architecture designs. Cisco lists NX-OS and SONiC as operating system options depending on customer requirements. Its brief cites 400G, 800G and 1.6T connectivity in QSFP-DD and OSFP form factors; compatibility depends on the specific switch and optic.
What “agentic AI” means here
In this announcement, “agentic AI” describes workloads the network is intended to support. Cisco presents the G300 as networking silicon for moving data among systems involved in training, inference and distributed AI workloads. It does not say that autonomous agents run inside the ASIC.

Cisco’s broader launch describes AgenticOps across networking, security and observability, and discusses AI Defense and SASE protections for agentic tool use and traffic. Cisco also says AI Canvas supports guided, human-in-the-loop troubleshooting, insight, configuration and optimization for enterprise infrastructure and AI fabrics. These are announced product capabilities and direction, not independent evidence that the systems operate autonomously.
How to read Cisco’s performance claims
The figures below come from Cisco’s February 2026 announcement and launch materials. They are vendor claims, not independent benchmark results. Their stated comparison bases matter: none should be treated as a guaranteed result for a particular data center.

| Claim | What Cisco says it compares or attributes it to |
|---|---|
| 102.4 Tbps switching capacity | Cisco’s stated capacity for the G300 ASIC. |
| 33% higher network utilization and 28% shorter job completion time | Cisco compares Intelligent Collective Networking—which combines shared packet buffering, path-based load balancing and proactive telemetry—with simulated non-optimized path selection. The figures are not a guarantee of customer job-time improvement. |
| Nearly 70% better energy efficiency | Cisco’s comparison for a 100% liquid-cooled system together with new optics. Its launch blog describes the comparison as equivalent bandwidth that previously required six 51.2T air-cooled systems; it is not a universal data-center result. |
| Up to 2.5× greater burst absorption | Cisco attributes this to the G300’s shared packet buffer. |
| 50% lower per-module power and 30% lower overall system power | Cisco’s separate claim for OSFP 800G Linear Pluggable Optics (LPO) with an N9364E-SG2X system; it is distinct from the liquid-cooling comparison. |
These figures describe different things and should not be combined into a single estimate of savings or performance. Buyers would need to validate the relevant system, optics, workload and facility conditions against their own requirements.
What infrastructure buyers should compare
Network role and scale
Start by defining whether the design is for an AI backend fabric, a scale-across or spine network, or another data-center role. Aggregate bandwidth needs and GPU-cluster size shape the switch count and topology; a headline ASIC capacity alone does not specify a complete fabric.

Switch silicon and form factor
Compare G300-based N9300 systems with relevant N9100 Spectrum-X configurations, then check the fixed or modular form factor and the design’s intended role. A Spectrum-X configuration for an NVIDIA Cloud Partner reference architecture is not the same silicon choice as a G300-based N9300.
Cooling and facility fit
Assess air-cooled versus direct-to-chip liquid-cooled options alongside power delivery, cooling infrastructure and service requirements. Cisco’s efficiency comparison is specific to a 100% liquid-cooled system and new optics, so it should not be projected onto a different cooling design.

Optics and link requirements
Match required link speed, reach and port density to optics supported by the exact switch model. Cisco’s brief lists 400G, 800G and 1.6T choices and QSFP-DD and OSFP form factors, but that does not establish that every optic works with every system.
Operating system and management
Check whether NX-OS or SONiC is offered for the target configuration and whether the operational model fits the organization. Cisco describes Nexus Dashboard for on-premises management and Nexus Hyperfabric for cloud-managed deployments; evaluate security, visibility and administration needs for the chosen environment.

Interoperability and deployment evidence
Verify the intended combinations of GPUs, NICs or DPUs, storage and software, then test the customer’s workloads. Cisco lists ecosystem support, but a vendor partner list is not a neutral comparative evaluation.
