The CHERRY XTRFY MX 10.1 Wireless is a premium, full-size low-profile mechanical keyboard with three connection options: 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth and wired USB. It combines a 4,000 Hz wireless polling rate, 8,000 Hz wired polling, a 4,000 mAh battery, per-key RGB lighting, a rotary control and an LCD display. CHERRY rates battery life at up to 900 hours over Bluetooth or up to 50 hours over 2.4 GHz at 4,000 Hz, with lighting and display settings affecting both figures.

How the three connection modes work
2.4 GHz wireless for gaming
The included 2.4 GHz dongle is the performance-focused option. CHERRY specifies polling up to 4,000 Hz, allowing the keyboard to report input more frequently than conventional 1,000 Hz wireless models. The trade-off is battery consumption: the stated runtime is up to 50 hours at that 4,000 Hz setting, before accounting for the effect of RGB and LCD brightness.
Bluetooth for multiple devices
Bluetooth pairing supports up to three devices. The rotary control provides a way to switch among those paired devices, making the keyboard suitable for moving between a desktop, laptop and another Bluetooth host without repeatedly pairing.
USB for charging and maximum polling
A detachable USB-C-to-USB-A cable enables wired operation and charging. Wired polling can be set as high as 8,000 Hz. The 1.8 m braided cable is included, so no separate high-speed cable is required for that mode.

#1 Best Overall
- Flat, wireless gaming keyboard: Equipped with a robust aluminum housing for extreme durability and a slim design for more comfort during long gaming sessions
- Absolutely flexible triple-mode connection: connect one device via 2.4 GHz RF, one device via the included USB-C to USB-A cable and even a total of three devices via Bluetooth
- Ultra-fast: polling rate of 4000 Hz in wireless mode and even 8000 Hz in wired mode. The display shows the typing speed (APM) and the battery status (incl. 3 personal profiles)
- CHERRY MX LOW PROFILE 2.0 RED switches: smooth and direct typing feel with linear switching characteristics (no click) and more than 100 million actuations per key
- Practical rotary knob: Adjust the RGB lighting, access the media controls or easily switch back and forth between the paired Bluetooth devices
Battery life: why the headline numbers differ
The 4,000 mAh battery has two very different official estimates. CHERRY rates it for up to 900 hours in Bluetooth mode, while 2.4 GHz operation at 4,000 Hz is rated for up to 50 hours. These are maximum figures rather than a universal day-to-day guarantee: illumination effects and LCD display settings change power use, and the 50-hour figure specifically assumes the high 4,000 Hz wireless setting.
Users who prioritize fewer charging sessions can therefore use Bluetooth with lighting and display effects reduced. Competitive players seeking the fastest wireless reporting should plan around the shorter 2.4 GHz estimate or use the cable.
Hardware and typing features
Low-profile mechanical design
The MX 10.1 uses CHERRY MX LOW PROFILE 2.0 mechanical switches in a slim full-size chassis. The low-profile format reduces keyboard height while retaining a mechanical switch mechanism. The aluminum housing is designed to provide a rigid platform, and the board weighs 1,100 g.

- High-performance gaming keyboard with mechanical keys: Elegant extruded aluminum housing meets intelligent, technical design (completely screw-free!)
- CHERRY MX BROWN High-quality mechanical switches: Precise and noticeable typing feel with tactile switching characteristics (without click) and more than 100 million actuations per key
- Vibrant RGB backlighting with over 16 million colors: Numerous integrated color schemes and lighting effects (individually programmable with the CHERRY UTILITY software)
- Useful gaming features: Full N-key rollover (all keys are read simultaneously), anti-ghosting (no wrong entries) + WIN key lock for game mode
- Practical: Secure, detachable USB-A to micro-USB cable and 4 round rubber feet on the underside of the keyboard – so nothing slips, even during hectic gaming sessions
Materials and rollover
Abrasion-resistant PBT keycaps are intended to retain their legends and texture through extended use. Full N-key rollover and anti-ghosting ensure that simultaneous key presses are registered reliably, which matters for complex shortcuts and games.
Rotary knob and LCD
The rotary control and LCD display add dedicated physical and visual controls beyond the key layout. The knob also handles Bluetooth-device switching; the exact functions available for the display and control can be configured through CHERRY Utility.
Software, operating systems and switch limitations
CHERRY says CHERRY Utility can change settings such as polling rate and customize the keyboard’s lighting and controls. Independent coverage from Tom’s Guide characterizes the companion software as Windows-only. The keyboard can still be connected through standard USB or Bluetooth protocols to other operating systems, but no macOS version of the utility or feature parity on Mac is established.

- Magnetic switch gaming keyboard in TKL format with TMR technology: For lightning-fast input, greater precision, lower battery consumption and better performance in games
- Hot-swappable CHERRY MK CRYSTAL switches: Trigger quickly, offer a smooth, linear typing feel and can be easily replaced with other magnetic or mechanical switches
- Flexible triple-mode connection: Connect one device via 2.4 GHz, one device via cable and one device via Bluetooth - with an ultra-fast polling rate of 8000 Hz in wireless and cable mode
- Customizable with CHERRY MagCrate software: Adjust trigger points per key, activate Rapid Trigger, Dynamic Keystroke or Mod Tap, assign macros and control RGB lighting
- Powerful battery with 8000 mAh: Depending on the settings you choose, you can play for up to 300 hours on a single charge and don't have to interrupt your game even while charging
The switches are not hot-swappable, according to Tom’s Guide’s review findings. Replacing them is therefore not the simple plug-and-play process available on a hot-swap keyboard; buyers who expect to experiment with switch types should treat this as a fixed-switch board.

At CHERRY’s launch and product-page price of $249 in the United States (or a recommended €199 in Europe), this is an enthusiast-level purchase. Its justification comes from the combination of a genuine full-size layout, low-profile mechanical switches, aluminum construction, 4,000 Hz wireless polling, 8,000 Hz wired polling, three Bluetooth slots, a display and a rotary control.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Strong fit: buyers who want one premium full-size board for gaming and multi-device work, and who value a knob, display and fast wireless polling.
- Weaker fit: shoppers focused on low price, very long high-speed 2.4 GHz runtime, macOS configuration software, or hot-swappable switches.
- Value caveat: the 900-hour figure applies to Bluetooth conditions, not the 4,000 Hz 2.4 GHz mode most relevant to competitive gaming.
What to check before buying
- Confirm that your main computer can use the included 2.4 GHz receiver where you intend to place it.
- Decide whether Bluetooth’s long rated runtime or 4,000 Hz wireless polling matters more to you.
- If you use a Mac, verify whether you need CHERRY Utility features, since independent coverage reports Windows-only companion software.
- Accept that the MX LOW PROFILE 2.0 switches are not hot-swappable.
- Allow desk space for a 427 x 134 mm full-size keyboard and its 1,100 g weight.
The Bottom Line
The CHERRY XTRFY MX 10.1 Wireless is a feature-rich full-size low-profile keyboard whose standout advantages are triple connectivity, very high polling rates, premium materials, a display and a rotary control. Its $249 price, Windows-focused software and non-hot-swappable switches make it best suited to buyers who specifically want that combination rather than the lowest-cost wireless mechanical keyboard.
