Tom’s Guide reported on Oct. 6, 2026, that the CHEF iQ MiniOven was $379 at Amazon, down from a stated $599, for Prime members during Prime Day. That was a time-sensitive deal, not a confirmed current price: check Amazon’s listing and reference price before buying. The same article’s headline describes author Mike Prospero’s experience with the oven; it is not an independent first-person test for this article.

What the Oct. 6 deal report said

Tom’s Guide reported a $220 reduction and described the offer as 37% off and limited to Prime members. Those figures reflect that publication’s Oct. 6, 2026 report. Amazon prices, eligibility, and reference prices can change, so the report does not establish that the offer remains available today.

What the CHEF iQ MiniOven is

The product is the CHEF iQ iQ MiniOven, model CQ50. CHEF iQ lists an 11-mode countertop oven with a touchscreen, speaker alerts, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and control through the CHEF iQ app. Its modes are bake, roast, air fry, dehydrate, toast, slow cook, broil, air broil, reheat, keep warm, and proof.

The manufacturer specifies a 25-quart capacity, six heating elements, a temperature range of 70°F to 500°F, and a power rating of 1,750 W at 120 V. Capacity alone does not tell you whether a particular pan will fit: CHEF iQ lists the cooking cavity as 13.54 inches wide, 13.15 inches deep, and 6.38 inches high, and says it accommodates a 13-inch pizza or a 9 × 13-inch baking tray.

Counter fit and included accessories

The exterior measures 16.1 inches wide, 16.4 inches deep, and 14.4 inches high. Measure the available counter area and leave enough clearance for ventilation and the door to open; the manufacturer’s exterior dimensions do not describe the clearance your kitchen requires. At 37.41 pounds, it is also a substantial appliance to move in and out of storage.

CHEF iQ lists these accessories as included:

  • Ceramic-coated baking tray
  • Ceramic-coated MiniRounds tray
  • Wire rack
  • Air fryer/dehydrator rack
  • Mini glide rack

The iQ Sense Smart Thermometer is a compatible pairing product, not one of the listed included accessories. Confirm what is in the box and whether the thermometer is sold separately in the listing you are considering.

App control has a mode-specific limit

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and app control do not mean every cooking session can be started remotely. CHEF iQ says broil, air broil, and toast can be set up in the app but must be started by pressing the oven’s control. That distinction matters if remote operation is the main reason you are considering a smart oven.

What independent evaluations say about cooking

RTINGS’ review, published Sept. 3, 2026, gives the MiniOven a 7.9 rating for mixed usage. In its testing, RTINGS found good baking and air-frying performance, even heat across the chamber, mostly crispy air-fried results, and even reheating. It also points to three rack positions and the ability to fit a 13-inch pizza as sources of flexibility. These are RTINGS’ test findings, not manufacturer guarantees.

Toast is a more qualified strength. Tom’s Guide’s Dec. 6, 2025 review, which says Prospero tested the oven for three months, listed toast performance among its drawbacks. In the Oct. 6, 2026 article, Prospero said firmware updates appeared to help with toast. That is his reported experience, not a measured result establishing how the oven performs for every owner or firmware version.

How it compares with two alternatives

RTINGS’ comparisons point to different priorities rather than a single best choice. Its findings concern the tested products; they do not establish current prices or availability.

Comparison CHEF iQ MiniOven Alternative Trade-off to weigh
Against Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro RTINGS says it uses less counter space and air fries better. RTINGS says the Breville has a larger cooking chamber and maintains more stable temperatures. Favor the CHEF iQ for footprint and air frying; consider the Breville if chamber size or temperature stability matters more.
Against Ninja French Door Premier FO101 RTINGS says it offers more rack positions, greater pizza capacity, and more smart functions. RTINGS describes the Ninja as more budget-friendly and simpler, with more stable temperatures, more even toast, and faster cooking in several uses. Favor the CHEF iQ for its smart features and rack flexibility; weigh the Ninja’s reported toast consistency, stability, and speed against your priorities.

The comparisons do not establish that either competitor is better for every recipe or kitchen. Check each model’s current specifications, dimensions, and price before deciding.

What the author’s year-long account does—and does not—show

In the Oct. 6, 2026 Tom’s Guide article, Prospero said the MiniOven was still going strong roughly a year after his earlier review. He described using it for toast, muffins, roast chicken, air-fried nuggets, and small pizzas. These examples illustrate his reported routine; they are not a claim that the appliance will suit every household or that this article independently verified long-term durability.
