As of October 8, 2026, ChatGPT Pro is offered in three monthly tiers: Pro 100 at $100 per month, Pro 200 at $200 per month, and Pro 500 at $500 per month. The higher tiers include more usage, but Pro does not make every model or feature unlimited; for many subscribers, the right choice depends on how often they hit model-specific limits and whether they need Pro 500’s Ultrafast option.
What is ChatGPT Pro?
ChatGPT Pro is a paid personal subscription that bundles access to Pro models with tools and features including Codex, deep research, image creation, memory, and file uploads. Inclusion in the plan does not guarantee unlimited use of each capability. OpenAI says model and feature usage can have separate limits.
OpenAI’s current plan details are listed in its About ChatGPT Pro tiers article. Model-specific restrictions are also described in its GPT-5.6 and GPT-6 Pro in ChatGPT guidance. Because subscription options can change, check those pages and the options shown in your account before subscribing.
How much does ChatGPT Pro cost?

Which Pro tier should you choose?
Choose Pro 100 if its allowance is enough
Pro 100 is the lowest-priced Pro option in the current tier list. It may suit you if you want Pro access and the included tools but do not regularly need the higher usage allowances. It still has model-specific limits.
Choose Pro 200 if you need more usage than Pro 100
OpenAI says Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100. If your current allowance is a constraint, compare the account-specific terms and reset behavior before changing plans; OpenAI notes that some Pro 200 allowance terms may depend on account history or grandfathering.

Choose Pro 500 if you need the largest allowance or Ultrafast
Pro 500 has the highest included usage among the three listed tiers, and it is the only one that currently includes Ultrafast. The higher price does not remove model-specific limits.
Is ChatGPT Pro unlimited?
No. OpenAI’s GPT-6 Pro guidance says GPT-6 Pro has usage limits, and allowances vary by plan and model. If you reach a model’s allowance, that model may be temporarily unavailable until its allowance resets. ChatGPT displays a reset time when available. Reaching one model’s limit does not, by itself, mean the entire subscription has ended.

OpenAI Support’s Pro-tier article states, “Support cannot reset ChatGPT or Codex limits.” If a limit is reached, use the reset information shown in ChatGPT rather than expecting Support to restore the allowance.
Can you buy extra usage with credits?
OpenAI offers credits as a separate pay-as-you-go option for certain supported features after included usage. Credit availability depends on the plan and account, and credits do not extend every model or feature. Check the usage screen in your account and OpenAI’s current Using Credits for Flexible Usage in ChatGPT article for eligible features and rates; do not assume a credit purchase will bypass a particular model limit.
How do you subscribe or change plans?
- Sign in to ChatGPT and open the pricing page.
- Review the Pro options available to your account, including the allowance terms shown for your plan history.
- Select the tier you want and confirm the monthly subscription details.
OpenAI’s Pro-tier article says new subscribers can select an option through the pricing page while signed in. Since account history can affect some allowance terms, existing subscribers should review what their account displays before switching.

Pro is most relevant when you need its Pro models and bundled tools often enough to justify a recurring monthly cost, or when the usage allowance on a lower option is not sufficient. Choose the lowest tier that accommodates your expected use: Pro 200 and Pro 500 cost more for higher included usage, and Pro 500 adds Ultrafast. The benefits described here alone do not establish that the extra subscription cost will be worthwhile for you.
