Charm Security announced its launch from stealth on March 25, 2025, alongside an $8 million seed round led by Team8. The company says it is building AI-powered tools to help organizations detect and interrupt scams that exploit customers through social engineering.

What Charm Security announced

Charm Security’s March 25, 2025 announcement said Team8 led the $8 million seed financing and that Charm was built in partnership with Team8. The company said it planned to use the proceeds to expand its team, accelerate product development, broaden its market reach, and build strategic partnerships. Those are stated plans, not evidence that the company has already achieved those milestones.

SecurityWeek independently reported the round and said Charm was founded in 2024. The company was founded by Roy Zur and Avichai Ben; Charm’s announcement identified Zur as co-founder and CEO.

What the company says its product does

At the 2025 launch

Charm described its launch product as an AI-powered customer security platform for scams, social engineering, and other human-centric fraud. The company said the platform assessed human vulnerability exposure and customer risk patterns, then offered tailored mitigation strategies based on psychological insights, data analysis, and AI. It also said the system could disrupt scams in real time while they were unfolding, serving organizations and their customers in financial and other consumer-facing sectors.

The underlying idea is that a customer may be manipulated into authorizing a transfer or revealing access, even when the account holder is legitimate. Charm and Team8 argue that defenses focused on unauthorized access or transaction anomalies may not catch that manipulation soon enough. This is their framing of the problem, not a universal finding established by the funding announcement.

Current product positioning

Charm’s current website describes a broader “Agentic AI Workforce for Fraud and Cybercrime.” Its product descriptions divide the work among three types of agents:

  • Fraud Investigation Agent: connects information across alerts, cases, and customer interactions.
  • Fraud Frontline Agent: advises customer-facing teams during high-risk interactions.
  • Fraud Intelligence Agent: gathers information about scam and fraud infrastructure.

Charm says these agents are designed to work alongside existing fraud and financial-crime teams. This current architecture is the company’s own description; it should not be read as independent verification of performance or deployment results.

Why Charm says scam prevention needs a different approach

Charm’s pitch emphasizes intervention during a conversation or other customer interaction, rather than relying only on a transaction or access signal after the scam has progressed. The company’s launch description focused on identifying risk patterns and disrupting an unfolding scam; its current positioning adds investigation and intelligence functions as well as guidance for frontline staff. That describes Charm’s approach, not a head-to-head comparison with other fraud products.

The scale of the problem is often described with a large estimate: Team8’s February 2025 Fraud Exposed report cites the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) estimate of $1.03 trillion in global losses from scams and social engineering. It is an estimate attributed to GASA, not an audited, transaction-by-transaction total.

Who founded Charm Security

Charm’s announcement described co-founder and CEO Roy Zur as a cyber intelligence expert, a senior officer in Israel’s Cyber Intelligence Unit 8200, an attorney, and a serial entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and fraud prevention. The same announcement described co-founder Avichai Ben as a former data science lead at Transmit Security and Microsoft who pioneered AI-driven fraud detection for major enterprises. These biographies and characterizations come from the company’s release.

What is—and is not—established about the product

Charm’s website lists targets of 30% loss reduction, 80% less manual triage, and 24/7 real-time intervention. The reviewed page does not disclose a methodology, study population, or independent validation for those figures, so they are company-stated targets rather than verified customer outcomes.

The announcement and independent coverage establish the seed round and lead investor. Product capabilities are chiefly described in Charm’s own materials. The available sources do not establish named customers, independently measured loss reductions, pricing, or public self-service access. The funding announcement, by itself, is not evidence that the product works as claimed.
