Playtonic Games’ 24 August 2026 update announcement lists fixes across several parts of the game. These are historical patch-note reports, not confirmation that the bugs remain in the current build. The notes include additional fixes beyond the examples below.

Controller crafting and chest interactions
The update fixed several controller-related problems while cooking or crafting: ingredient costs could be incorrect, ingredient indicators could be missing, and chests could have problems locking or unlocking during crafting.
Crash in a French-language heart scene
The update fixed a crash that could occur during Dr. Andrew’s ninth heart scene when playing in French. The announcement gives no reproduction steps or separate workaround.

Animal resources after butchering
A bug could prevent animal resources from being collected the following day if too many animals were butchered at once. The patch notes say this was fixed, but do not specify a threshold for “too many.”
Winter invitation mail and building upgrades
NPC cutscene invitation mail could arrive during winter even when the scene was unavailable. The update also fixed an issue where placing a Shed, Coop, or Barn upgrade could remove multiple upgrades from inventory.

Earlier documented bugs were patched in 2025
The official Steam announcement archive includes earlier fixes, including these examples from notes dated 16 June 2025. They describe past defects and should not be treated as proof of problems in the current version.
- A random crash during a stickup.
- A soft lock in a train cart after entering Tom’s ninth heart scene while riding a horse.
- Starting a new file after returning to the main menu could retain spouse state and Jeb’s house state from the previous save.
- Other fixes addressed a quest, scarecrow range, newborn-animal quest counting, town-hall donation display, continuous flooring input, shipping-box interactions, and map controls.
What to check if you encounter a similar problem
The official notes do not provide verified save-repair instructions, universal workarounds, or a support-ticket procedure for these issues. If a bug appears to match an old report, record the circumstances before assuming the same defect is still present.

- Note the platform and installed game version. Check the game’s update listing on the platform where you play and confirm whether the game has installed the latest available update.
- Record the conditions. Include the language, controller or input method, season, relevant heart scene, animal-processing activity, and building upgrade involved. The patch notes tie particular fixes to these kinds of conditions.
- Identify when the save began. Note whether the save predates the update that lists the relevant fix. The notes do not say whether an existing affected save repairs itself automatically.
- Check platform-specific availability. Playtonic announced console availability for Bandits & Bounties on 5 October 2026 and linked PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo storefronts. That announcement does not state version numbers or confirm that all platforms received the same build at the same time.
What the update adds
Bandits & Bounties is not only a bug-fix update. It adds a bounty loop and new items and activities that may help distinguish an update feature from a problem.
Bounties and encounters
Players can accept Wanted Posters at the Sheriff’s building, track a bandit in the wilderness, and return to Sheriff Tom for a reward. Bandit camps may appear while exploring, and random robberies or shootouts can occur at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter, and Bank.

Crafting, inventory, and other additions
- A Toolbelt lets players craft away from a crafting table.
- The Extra Large Bag expands inventory to four rows.
- An Animal Trap, Rock Tumbler, and Tailoring Table add new ways to gather materials and make clothes and hats; the Rock Tumbler can occasionally yield rare gems.
- A boat-accessible fishing location at the docks, open Tuesdays and Saturdays, offers fish from every season.
- NPC dialogue was expanded, and inventory counts can display values beyond 9,999.

Cattle Country has a Steam store page; the publisher’s console availability announcement links PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo storefronts. Check the listing for your platform and region for current availability and update details rather than assuming a shared version number across platforms.
