Capcom Arcade Stadium and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium are separate collections, not an original and an upgrade: each has its own 32-game roster, its own free starting game, and its own add-on purchases. The first includes 1943 – The Battle of Midway – for free; the second includes SonSon. Neither collection’s free app gives you its entire roster. Choose according to the specific arcade games you want, then check your platform’s current add-ons and bundles before buying.

Platform notes: the Xbox listing for 2nd Stadium includes Xbox One and Series X|S. The PlayStation listing describes a PS4 title playable on PS5 with a compatibility caveat; that is not the same as a separate native PS5 release. The original launched on Switch before rolling out to PS4, Xbox One and Steam in 2021; Steam lists May 24, 2021 for its PC version. 2nd Stadium launched on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam on July 22, 2022. Capcom’s product descriptions and current store listings are the basis for these platform details.
The short version: the number of games and many of the arcade conveniences are similar, but the games are not. The original’s draws include Final Fight, Strider, Ghosts ’n Goblins and a selection of Street Fighter II versions. The second offers the Street Fighter Alpha trilogy, several Darkstalkers-series games, two Mega Man arcade fighters and titles such as Three Wonders. If your favorite is a specific game, start with its exact name—not a collection number or franchise label.
Does 2nd Stadium include the games from the first Stadium?
No. The two Stadium apps have distinct rosters. Buying or downloading 2nd Stadium does not make the first collection’s games playable there, and owning original Stadium games does not transfer those games into the second app.

There is one limited cross-collection perk: Capcom says save data from the original unlocks the Music & Lights customization in 2nd Stadium. Purchasing additional original titles also unlocks instruction-card and key-art backgrounds for use in the second collection. Those bonuses are customization content, not a way to add the original’s arcade games to 2nd Stadium.
The practical distinction is important if you are buying for one particular title. Want Final Fight, Strider or Progear? Look in the original Stadium. Want Street Fighter Alpha 3, Vampire Savior or Mega Man: The Power Battle? Those are in 2nd Stadium. There is overlap in broad franchises and eras, but the named games and versions matter: the titles are not interchangeable just because both collections include Street Fighter or a game with 1943 in its name.
That cross-collection link is easy to overread. Capcom describes unlockable presentation extras for people with original Stadium save data or purchases; it does not describe a shared library, a roster upgrade, or a transfer that makes a paid game playable in both apps. Think of the two products as separate game collections with a small customization connection, not as one collection split into a base app and expansion.

The original Stadium’s 32-game roster leans into early Capcom arcade games, shooters, action titles, and several versions of Street Fighter II. Capcom originally grouped many of these games into three packs, but that historical grouping should not be mistaken for a guarantee that those exact packs are still sold.
The free game is 1943 – The Battle of Midway –. Capcom also identifies Ghosts ’n Goblins as a standalone title. The original three-pack groupings were:
- Pack 1: Vulgus, Pirate Ship Higemaru, 1942, Commando, Section Z, Tatakai no Banka, Legendary Wings, Bionic Commando, Forgotten Worlds and Ghouls ’n Ghosts.
- Pack 2: Strider, Dynasty Wars, Final Fight, 1941, Senjo no Okami II, Mega Twins, Carrier Air Wing, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Captain Commando and Varth.
- Pack 3: Warriors of Fate, Street Fighter II’: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Powered Gear, Cyberbots, 19XX, Battle Circuit, Giga Wing, 1944 and Progear.
The names also show why a franchise-level search can be misleading. The free 1943 is not the same title as 1942, 1941 or 1944; each is a separate arcade game. And Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Hyper Fighting and Super Street Fighter II Turbo are separate versions, not one game counted under several labels.
There is also a difference between a historical pack list and what a buyer can select today. Capcom’s notice says older named packs were discontinued on June 6, 2023. That does not establish that every individual title disappeared from every storefront, nor that a pack remains purchasable where it once was. Use the names above to identify what you want, then check the live DLC page for your platform rather than relying on an old pack name or an archived price.

For players comparing by style, the original has a visible concentration of shooting games, including the distinct 1940s- and 19XX-numbered titles, alongside side-scrolling action and fighting games. That is a useful way to narrow the choice, not a guarantee that every game in a broad genre plays alike. Check the individual title page and version name if a particular arcade release is the reason you are buying.
Which games are in Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium?
2nd Stadium also has 32 games, but its distinctive draws include the Street Fighter Alpha trilogy, Darkstalkers entries, two Mega Man arcade fighters, and a mix of action and puzzle games. SonSon is the free starting game.
Capcom’s 32-name roster is:
SonSon, Savage Bees, Gan Sumoku, The Speed Rumbler, Hyper Dyne Side Arms, Hissatsu Buraiken, Black Tiger, Street Fighter, Tiger Road, 1943 Kai, Last Duel, Rally 2011 LED STORM, Magic Sword, Three Wonders, The King of Dragons, Block Block, Knights of the Round, Saturday Night Slam Masters, Eco Fighters, Pnickies, Darkstalkers, Night Warriors, Street Fighter Alpha, Mega Man: The Power Battle, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Vampire Savior, Capcom Sports Club, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Hyper Street Fighter II.
Some storefronts use localized names or prefix a game name with “A.K.A.” If a title looks unfamiliar, compare the exact name shown on your platform’s store with Capcom’s roster rather than assuming it is an extra or a different game. For instance, the PlayStation listing describes its bundle as 30 additional games plus bonus Gan Sumoku, alongside free SonSon. That is a bundle’s presentation of the 32-game total—not 32 paid games in addition to the free title.
Recommended Free Tools
As with the first collection, read franchise names precisely. 2nd Stadium includes Street Fighter, the three Street Fighter Alpha titles, and Hyper Street Fighter II; those are not one interchangeable entry. Likewise, its three Darkstalkers-family listings are Darkstalkers, Night Warriors and Vampire Savior, while the Mega Man entries are two arcade fighting games: The Power Battle and The Power Fighters. The roster does not include the original collection’s Final Fight or Progear.
The roster also helps explain why “second” should not be read as “more of the first.” The second collection has its own mixture of fighters, action games and puzzles, including Block Block, Pnickies and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Its 32-game count is the total roster figure; the PlayStation bundle’s description separates bonus Gan Sumoku from the 30 additional games and the free base title for storefront accounting.
What is different about the features and multiplayer?
The collections share the main conveniences expected from these arcade compilations: rewind, saves, visual customization, and online scoring or leaderboards. Capcom’s descriptions do not support treating every convenience in one app as an exclusive feature absent from the other.

For 2nd Stadium, Capcom specifically lists 32 save slots, screen rotation, visual filters and borders, adjustable difficulty and speed, challenges, and online leaderboards. The save-slot number is a stated feature; it should not be confused with a claim about cloud saves or cross-platform save transfer. It also says up to four players can play locally in supported games. That qualification matters: the four-player maximum is not a promise that every title supports four people.
Capcom describes rewind and save functionality, speed and difficulty options, filters, CASPO classes, and leaderboard challenges for the original collection. Its product information identifies Captain Commando as multiplayer-capable; check the individual game details for player count rather than generalizing multiplayer support to the whole 32-game roster. The feature descriptions share some broad terms, but do not amount to a complete, tested one-to-one comparison of every menu option in each app.
Online leaderboards are not online multiplayer. The PlayStation and Xbox descriptions for 2nd Stadium specify local multiplayer gameplay; the PlayStation wording says, “Multiplayer gameplay is only available locally.” A leaderboard lets players compare scores online, but it does not provide online matchmaking or remote co-op. The statement concerns multiplayer gameplay in the collection; do not infer online fights from the presence of network-connected score features.
If online fighting is decisive, Capcom’s separate Capcom Fighting Collection advertises online play for its included fighters. It is a separate product, not a Stadium feature or a substitute for either Stadium roster. Some titles or franchises may overlap, so compare the actual included-game lists and the feature descriptions for the product you are considering rather than buying one on the assumption that all Capcom fighters share the same online options.
If you want an arcade-style controller for local play, match the accessory to your console. HORI lists the Fighting Stick Mini for Nintendo Switch and separate Alpha models for PS4/PS5 and Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One. These are optional controllers, not game copies; manufacturer platform support does not establish how every controller behaves with every specific title. They are a peripheral consideration after you have picked the collection and confirmed which games support the kind of local play you want.
Are both collections free, and what should you buy?
Each has a free base app, but neither free download includes its full 32-game roster. The original’s free title is 1943 – The Battle of Midway –; 2nd Stadium’s is SonSon. The other titles are sold as add-ons, and store bundles may package games differently. Downloading a free base is therefore a way to access its included starting game and collection app, not a shortcut to the paid roster.
There is no reliable single current price to quote across platforms and regions. Capcom stated a $3.99 price per individual 2nd Stadium game at launch in June 2022, but that is a launch-era figure, not a verified November 2026 price. Likewise, a September 2026 PlayStation promotion shown in a retrieved listing is expired by the time of this comparison. Check the game’s current listing in your own regional PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or Steam store before budgeting, and compare the individual add-on against any bundle currently shown there.

Availability has changed, too. Capcom’s support notice says selected older packs and a former Steam 2nd Stadium Bundle were discontinued on June 6, 2023. The notice describes a Steam Complete Pack spanning the two collections with 62 additional titles. That count refers to additional paid titles across both apps; it does not mean 62 free games or 62 games in 2nd Stadium alone. A pack or bundle on one store should not be assumed to exist under the same name on another platform. Capcom also records a 2025 Japan-price update, but a yen price change is not a US price guide.
For a PlayStation buyer, the listing’s “30 additional games” language is a reminder to inspect the contents rather than infer the math from the word bundle. The free SonSon, 30 additional bundle games and bonus Gan Sumoku together account for the 32-game roster described on that store page. Another platform may present its purchases differently. The sensible comparison is the exact games you want against the add-on or bundle currently offered in your own storefront.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstall- Choose the game first. Use the rosters above to identify the exact title and version you want. Do not substitute 1943 Kai for 1943 – The Battle of Midway –, or one Street Fighter II version for another, based on a shared name.
- Open the store for your platform and region. Confirm the listing is for the right Stadium app and check whether the specific game is available as an individual add-on.
- Compare the live bundle with individual purchases. Read the bundle’s included-game list; names, bonus titles, and current offers can differ by storefront. The discontinued Steam bundle and earlier pack names should not be treated as universally available.
- Confirm platform compatibility. In particular, do not interpret a PS4 listing playable on PS5 as a native PS5 release, or assume the same controller model works across Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
- Decide whether local multiplayer is enough. If you want online matches, these Stadium collections’ online leaderboards are not a substitute for a product that expressly offers online play.
In short, do not buy a collection on the assumption that the other one is included. The purchase decision is about the game roster you want, the add-ons currently offered in your store, and whether local rather than online multiplayer meets your needs. A genuinely useful accessory purchase might be a compatible arcade stick for local play, but it remains optional and is not a physical version of the game.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is there a physical copy of 2nd Stadium?
Capcom’s support article, updated in July 2026, says, “We have no plans for a physical release at this time.” That is a time-qualified statement about 2nd Stadium: the collection is a digital purchase, and there is no basis here for treating an advertised physical edition as an official release. Check current official information if physical availability is important, because plans can change. An arcade stick is a controller accessory, not a game cartridge or disc.
How we compared the collections
This comparison uses Capcom’s launch and product descriptions for both rosters and features, Capcom’s support notice for discontinued packs and the Steam Complete Pack, and platform-store descriptions for bundle framing and platform compatibility. The distinction between an online leaderboard and online multiplayer follows the store wording, not an assumption based on the presence of online features. Prices and promotions are described only where the source establishes their date; they are not presented as current universal offers. Capcom’s support material for the physical-release question was updated in July 2026, and the cited product and storefront information was reviewed as of October 30, 2026. Check regional prices, promotion deadlines, add-on availability and accessory stock again when you shop.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download 2nd Stadium and play all 32 games for free?
No. The free base includes SonSon; the other roster entries are additional purchases. The original collection’s free game is 1943 – The Battle of Midway –, and it also has paid add-ons.
Can saved progress carry from one Stadium app to the other?
Capcom describes cross-collection unlocks for customization, but its published description does not establish that game progress, high scores, or save states transfer between the apps. Treat each collection’s game saves as separate unless your platform’s current support information says otherwise.

Does 2nd Stadium include the original Stadium games?
No. The apps have different 32-game rosters. Original Stadium save data or purchases can unlock customization items in 2nd Stadium, but do not make the original games playable there.
Does 2nd Stadium have online multiplayer?
Its PlayStation and Xbox store descriptions specify local multiplayer gameplay. Online leaderboards are for score comparison and are not online matchmaking or remote co-op.
Can I use an arcade stick with these games on Switch?
A platform-matched Switch arcade stick is an optional controller to consider for local play; the manufacturer lists the HORI Fighting Stick Mini for Switch. That platform listing does not guarantee title-by-title operation, and it is not a physical copy of either collection.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Does a bundle’s “30 additional games” mean 30 games plus the free title?
Not necessarily. The PlayStation listing presents 30 additional bundle games and bonus Gan Sumoku, with free SonSon; read the full included-content list because store bundle math can separate bonus content from the main count.
Is there a physical copy of Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium?
Capcom’s support article updated in July 2026 says, “We have no plans for a physical release at this time.” That describes its plans at that date; check current official information if plans change.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Capcom Arcade Stadium and 2nd Stadium are separate digital libraries, each with 32 titles and one free game—not one collection plus an upgrade. Pick based on the exact arcade games you want, then verify the add-on or bundle currently available in your own platform store. Both offer online score features, but 2nd Stadium’s multiplayer gameplay is local, not online.
