To cancel what many people call a Google Photos subscription, cancel the Google One membership that provides shared storage for Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. First check which Google Account owns the plan and where it is billed: cancellation must be handled through the service that manages the subscription.
Before you cancel, identify the account and billing route
Sign in to the Google Account that owns the membership, then check how the plan is billed. A Google-billed plan can usually be cancelled in Google One; an App Store purchase must be managed through Apple. If a third-party partner bills the membership, Google directs you to that partner. Google One included with Pixel Pass is a special case: Google says to cancel Pixel Pass to end the included membership.
- Google-billed or web-managed: use Google One on a computer or Android device.
- Apple-billed: use Apple’s subscription controls to complete cancellation.
- Partner-billed: contact or use the partner that bills the membership.
- Pixel Pass: cancel Pixel Pass rather than treating the included Google One membership as a standalone plan.
Cancel Google One on a computer
- Open Google One and sign in to the account with the membership.
- Open Settings and select Cancel membership.
- Confirm cancellation and save the confirmation for your records.
Cancel Google One on Android
- Open the Google One app using the account with the membership.
- Tap Menu, then Settings.
- Tap Cancel membership and confirm.
Cancel Google One on iPhone or iPad
- In Google One, open Menu, then Membership plans, and choose Manage plan.
- Tap Cancel membership. When subscription management opens, tap Cancel Subscription to finish.
- If there is no cancellation button or the page says the subscription expires, Google says it may already be cancelled. For a plan bought through the App Store, manage it in Apple’s subscription controls.
What happens after cancellation
Access usually continues until the billing period ends
For ordinary cancellations, Google says paid storage and membership benefits remain available until the end of the billing cycle. A Metro by T-Mobile sponsored membership in the United States is an exception: Google says it ends when cancelled.

After the membership ends, the account has up to 15 GB of personal storage at no charge, shared across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. If the account is using more than the storage available to it, Google Photos backup stops, and Google lists restrictions for Gmail and Drive as well. Check your account’s storage and, if you depend on continuous backup, reduce usage or arrange another storage plan before the paid period ends.
Cancellation does not mean your photos are deleted
Ending the Google One membership is different from deleting the Google One service. Ordinary membership cancellation should not be treated as a request to delete stored photos. Google’s separate service-deletion guidance says content in Photos, Drive, and Gmail remains for at least two years after that separate action; do not start that flow unless you intend to delete the service.

Can you get a refund?
Google’s policy says most Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable. For purchases made through the App Store, Google directs customers to Apple for refund requests. The billing route and applicable policy determine how a request is handled, so cancellation does not guarantee a refund.
