Yes—but only selected NRL matches are free to stream online. In Australia, 9Now is the official free streaming option for the games Nine broadcasts, while the fixture determines which matches are included. For every game in every 2026 round, the listed options are subscription services, not free streams.
How to stream selected NRL matches free in Australia
Check Nine’s schedule and 9Now for the specific fixture. The NRL’s current watch page says Nine carries three live free-to-air rugby league games a week and directs viewers to 9Now. Nine’s rights summary for the 2023–2027 seasons describes those weekly games as Thursday, Friday and Sunday fixtures, with a Saturday night game added in each of the final five rounds. Nine says it retained exclusive free streaming of its selected games through 9Now. The schedule, rather than the service name alone, tells you whether a particular match is available.
Nine also says the Grand Final and State of Origin are shown on Nine and 9Now. Check the current schedule for the event and your location before relying on a stream.

No. The free Nine/9Now selection is not every match. For Australia, the Kayo and Foxtel help centre lists Kayo as carrying every match of every 2026 round live and on demand. It lists Foxtel and Foxtel Go for every round as well. These are subscription services; current prices and trial terms are not established here.

Watching NRL outside Australia
The NRL describes Watch NRL as its official international live and on-demand service. Its availability guidance excludes Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Watch NRL is not a free-stream answer for Australian viewers, and availability for international viewers depends on territory. The NRL also lists territory-specific broadcasters, so check which service carries the match where you live.
Free NRL broadcasts in some Pacific territories
Free TV Australia says viewers in Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu, Tonga, Cook Islands, Niue and Timor-Leste will receive two live and one delayed NRL match each week through local free-to-air broadcasters. It says Fiji and Papua New Guinea already have broadcast arrangements. This confirms free television access in the named places, not that every local broadcaster provides an online stream. Check the local broadcaster’s schedule and streaming options.

What changes from 2028?
The NRL announced a new seven-year media agreement on 7 July 2026. It applies to a future rights period, not the 2026 season described above. Under the announcement, Foxtel will televise all NRL and NRLW Premiership and finals matches; Nine will have exclusive Grand Final and State of Origin coverage and simulcast three weekly fixtures; and Sky NZ will put more than 130 fixtures on free platforms. The announcement does not establish that every match will be free online in every territory.
For a 2026 match, use the current fixture schedule and the broadcaster for your territory: in Australia, start with 9Now for Nine’s selected free games; if you need every match, consult the listed subscription coverage.
