Yes, but not every game is included with a regular YouTube account. Some leagues and broadcasters stream selected events on YouTube. For a broader live-TV lineup, YouTube TV carries sports through local broadcast stations, national networks and regional sports networks. What you can watch depends on the event’s rights, your subscription and your location.
First, distinguish YouTube from YouTube TV
YouTube
YouTube is the video platform. A league or broadcaster may stream selected live events on its official channel. YouTube Help gives MLB as an example and directs viewers to the league channel for an airing. Its example of 21 games applies to the 2022 MLB season, not a current schedule. An ordinary YouTube account is not a universal live-sports pass.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV is a paid live-TV service. Its sports coverage comes from the broadcast, cable and regional sports channels in the subscriber’s plan and home-area lineup. Google describes an offering of 100+ channels, but that is the service’s total channel offering—not a promise that every channel is available in every household. Use the official ZIP-code lineup checker before subscribing.

Some sports coverage is sold separately or as an add-on. NFL Sunday Ticket is one example; its standalone version covers a defined set of out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games, not every NFL game. Other services may carry particular events or broadcasts. Check the current event listing and purchase terms rather than assuming a channel or package covers an entire league.

Why a game may be available—or missing
Sports rights determine which distributor can show an event and where. A game might be assigned to a national network, a local affiliate, a regional sports network, a league stream or an event-specific service. The app alone does not determine access: the carrying channel, your plan, your home area, your current location and sometimes your device all matter.
YouTube TV says national and local sports work differently. Local affiliates and regional sports networks vary by home area, so a channel list from another ZIP code may not describe your lineup. Baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer games may be carried by regional sports networks. The FCC’s March 4, 2026 Federal Register notice says sports blackouts remain subject to private contractual arrangements between teams or leagues and video distributors.

How to check whether you can watch a specific event
- Identify the event. Note the league or event, date and start time. Look for the official schedule or announcement naming its broadcaster or stream.
- Identify the carrier. Determine whether it is an official YouTube stream, a local station, a national network, a regional sports network or a separate service.
- Check your YouTube TV lineup by ZIP code. Confirm that the specific channel is included for your home area and plan. Do this before subscribing, especially for local or regional games.
- Read the package exclusions. For an add-on such as NFL Sunday Ticket, check which games are included and excluded for the season. A package’s name does not mean it provides every game.
- Check location and device access before game time. Content partners may limit viewing by location, event, platform or device. Confirm that your device is supported and that the event is available where you will watch.
Example: choosing a way to watch NFL games
NFL coverage illustrates why it helps to check the game rather than just the service name. YouTube TV’s main or Sports plan can carry local and national NFL broadcasts through channels such as CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN and NFL Network, depending on the subscriber’s lineup. Sunday Ticket adds eligible out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games shown on CBS and FOX.

What changes when you travel?
During domestic travel, YouTube TV may show local channels for the place you are visiting, so the local lineup and sports availability can differ from home. Rights and available networks vary by region. YouTube TV states that its programs are unavailable during international travel.
YouTube Help separately says U.S. YouTube TV members can watch the MLB games described on its page anywhere in the country. That is guidance for that MLB example; do not treat it as a rule for every sport or service.

Announcements are not the same as a confirmed schedule
YouTube’s NBCUniversal partnership announcement described selected live events on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel and a Peacock offering through YouTube Premium, while noting that more launch details would follow. Before relying on an announcement, check the current event listing and the terms for the relevant plan or service.
Does a TV device unlock more sports?
No. A streaming player can make it more convenient to use the YouTube app on a television, and YouTube support describes TV-app playback and Chromecast casting. A device does not add sports rights, a paid subscription or an exemption from a blackout. Verify compatibility for your device and the event before game time.
