Yes, LogMeIn can wake a computer, but only through Wake-on-LAN and only when specific conditions are met. It can wake a sleeping PC or Mac. It can also wake a powered-off Windows PC. It cannot wake a powered-off Mac. The target must use Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. A second LogMeIn host must also be switched on in the same network to send the wake request.
What LogMeIn can and cannot wake
According to LogMeIn’s Central User Guide article “How to Wake a Computer in Sleep Mode or Powered Off Using Wake On LAN,” support depends on the platform and the power state:

Both cases assume the requirements below are met. LogMeIn doesn’t promise that it can wake any computer from anywhere. It also doesn’t say it can wake a Wi-Fi-connected target.
Requirements before it will work
The target must be wired
LogMeIn’s wording is: “The computer you are trying to wake up must be on a wired connection (not on WiFi).” If your computer is on Wi-Fi only, an Ethernet cable is the way to meet this condition. The cable alone doesn’t add Wake-on-LAN support. The network adapter and firmware must support it too.

A second LogMeIn host must be on in the same network
A sleeping or powered-off computer can’t send its own wake request. LogMeIn uses another computer, already running as a LogMeIn host on the same network, to send the signal. If every machine at that location is off or asleep, nothing is available to relay the request.
Hardware and firmware must allow it
Microsoft explains that Wake-on-LAN works when the network adapter detects a wake event. Whether a given system can wake from sleep or from a full shutdown depends on its firmware and hardware. LogMeIn’s software can’t override that. If your model doesn’t support waking from a certain state, no setting will fix it.

How to set it up
LogMeIn’s instructions use older menu names, such as System Preferences on macOS. Labels may differ in your current OS and LogMeIn version, but the settings are the same. An administrator can restrict access to the LogMeIn preference, so you may need admin rights.
Windows PC
- Connect the PC to the network with Ethernet.
- Open the BIOS/UEFI setup and enable Wake-on-LAN. LogMeIn notes it is often labelled “Wake On LAN from S5.”
- In the LogMeIn Control Panel, go to Options > Preferences > Advanced Settings.
- Select Enable ‘Wake On LAN’ from sleep and power off.
- Leave a second LogMeIn host powered on in the same network.
Mac
- Connect the Mac to the network with Ethernet.
- In Energy Saver settings, enable Wake for Network Access.
- Enable the Wake-on-LAN preference in the LogMeIn Control Panel.
- Put the Mac to sleep rather than shutting it down.
- Keep a second LogMeIn host on in the same network.
How to wake the computer
Sign in to LogMeIn and find the target in your computer list. When the host is ready, LogMeIn shows a Switch On button next to it. Click it and wait. LogMeIn says waking can take several minutes. Once the computer is awake and online, connect to it as usual.

Ordinary remote connections are different. They need the host to be on, connected to the internet, and running the LogMeIn host software. Wake-on-LAN is the special path for a host that is asleep or off.
If it doesn’t wake
- No Switch On button: check that the target is wired, that the LogMeIn Wake-on-LAN preference is enabled, and that another host is on in the same network.
- Helper host not actually on: confirm it isn’t asleep or shut down, and that it is on the same network as the target.
- Firmware setting missing: recheck the BIOS/UEFI Wake-on-LAN option and the network adapter’s own power settings.
- Outdated drivers: LogMeIn’s Windows troubleshooting page recommends current motherboard chipset and network adapter drivers or firmware.
- Deep Sleep: the same page notes that BIOS Deep Sleep may need to be disabled.
- Powered-off Mac: this can’t be fixed. Leave the Mac asleep instead.
The Bottom Line
Treat LogMeIn waking as a local Wake-on-LAN relay. You need a wired target, firmware support, the LogMeIn preference turned on, and a second host running on the same network. Leave a Mac asleep, because it can’t be woken once it’s shut down.
