No—not as a supported option according to Samsung India’s published guidance. Samsung describes Samsung Pay/Wallet as a service for compatible Samsung devices, and its UPI setup guidance is for Galaxy smartphones. That is a support boundary, not proof that the app is technically impossible to install or run on another brand of phone.
What Samsung’s support guidance means
This answer is about Samsung Wallet UPI in India. Samsung’s Samsung Pay service information describes use on a compatible Samsung mobile device. Its Samsung Wallet page directs users to check device compatibility, while Samsung’s India UPI instructions describe the feature on Galaxy devices.
So if you have a non-Samsung Android phone, Samsung does not document it as eligible for Samsung Wallet UPI. Finding or downloading an app does not, by itself, establish that the phone is supported. Samsung Wallet is the umbrella name; Samsung Pay is its payment sub-brand, and some older setup instructions still use the Samsung Pay name.

A Galaxy phone is not automatically a guarantee that every Wallet feature, including UPI, is available. Samsung says Wallet features can vary by country or region, model, carrier, and firmware. Check the exact phone’s compatibility and whether UPI appears in Wallet on that device; Samsung’s published materials do not establish a current model-by-model India UPI list.

Samsung announced on October 30, 2025, that UPI onboarding would be integrated into device setup on Galaxy smartphones, with rollout across supported Galaxy devices. The announcement does not mean every Galaxy model already has the feature. See Samsung Newsroom India’s announcement for the rollout description.
What UPI setup involves on a supported device
Samsung’s UPI directions describe selecting UPI in Samsung Pay, creating a profile and preferred VPA (UPI ID), choosing a bank account, and setting a UPI PIN. The phone number used during setup must match the mobile number registered with the selected bank account. PIN setup can require bank verification and debit or ATM card details when prompted. Samsung also describes linking additional bank accounts. The precise screens and available flows may vary by app version.

The same Samsung instructions list payments to a VPA or bank account number and IFSC, online payments using a VPA, and in-store payments by scanning BHIM UPI QR codes. Payments are authorized with the UPI PIN. These are the flows Samsung documents; they are not a guarantee that every option appears unchanged on every device or app version. Refer to Samsung’s UPI setup and use instructions.

No. The documented device restriction is specific to Samsung Wallet UPI; it does not establish that UPI generally requires Samsung hardware. If you want UPI on a non-Samsung phone, use a UPI app supported on that phone rather than assuming Samsung Wallet will work there. If you specifically want Samsung Wallet UPI, first verify that the particular Galaxy device supports Wallet and UPI in India before deciding whether changing phones is worthwhile.

Samsung Wallet setup notes
Samsung’s general setup support page says Wallet may be preinstalled on supported devices and recommends checking for software updates if it is absent. It also describes Samsung Account sign-in, device verification, and creation of a four-digit Wallet PIN. That page was last updated January 31, 2023, so treat its screen-by-screen steps as dated rather than a guarantee of the current interface: Samsung’s Wallet setup support page.
